You must use an Echo to order the smart plug. I used one of my echo speakers and said "Alexa order the Amazon smart plug" and it worked.

Yes, you have to use Alexa and there is a limit of one. I purchased one a couple weeks ago and it won't let me order another for $4.99 at this point.

It works well for lamps in the bedroom and living room.

I've found that other Wi-Fi switches are unreliable at times, have apps that potentially could go away, and I guess I trust the Alexa plugs more than others. Just don't want to pay $25 each.
