You must use an Echo to order the smart plug. I used one of my echo speakers and said "Alexa order the Amazon smart plug" and it worked.

Yes, you have to use Alexa and there is a limit of one. I purchased one a couple weeks ago and it won't let me order another for $4.99 at this point.

don't hate me for asking... but do these work with google home? most no-name plugs work with both but since I can't cast videos to my chromecast from my damn kindle fire is this the kind of thing designed to lock you into the amazon ecosystem?

The whole transaction has to be completed through ordering through voice.
It does NOT have to be completed by voice only. You can have Alexa add the plug to your cart and checkout on the app.

Cart will show as $24.99 but checkout will apply a $20 Alexa discount, reflecting the $4.99 price.

What do you all use these for? Definitely seems like a great price but I'm not creative enough to think of what to use it for.

Yes, only work with Amazon. No integration to any other smart hubs

I use one in the Garage and have my battery chargers for my lawn equipment plugged in. It's best not to have the batteries constantly charging. Actually it's thought best not to even store these lithium batteries fully charged. So after I do my yard work I have Alexa turn on the chargers, set a timer reminder to shut the them off after an hour. In my case that brings the batteries up to 3/4 charged.

The next time I have to do yard work I turn the chargers back on for 30 min. prior for a 100% charge, or even if I forget to do that 3/4 charge is plenty to get through the job.

FYI, those in cold climates should bring their batteries indoors for the winter as extreme temperatures shortens the battery life.

This worked for me on the android app. I believe it's one per prime account because I told my mother, who I have on my prime account and it didn't work for her (full price)

Can you order more than one on the same purchase? Or is this for one item only? I need more than one. Lol
