This isn't just "micro efficiency." People have measured a 10-11 Watt draw on these speakers with no input running. That adds up to 88 kWh or more of energy being consumed in a year just from being plugged in. @fortytwo42 makes a very valid point: if you factor in the energy cost for the Klipsch over a 5 year lifespan, it would be fair to compare this system with a $165 speaker system that actually powers off, as the actual amount paid over this time will be comparable.

For me, I bought a remote switch extension cord that allows me to power off the speakers (I have a different set, not this one) when not in use.
