I got this deal and returning it as well. I expected more even for $169. Picture looks washed out and color spectrum and depth is lacking, even at the price range.
Did you try changing the picture settings? Were you running an HDR signal without turning HDR on? Was the TV in s-log mode? I've looked at all the TVs in Best buy and this one doesn't look any different to me. I have friends with very expensive TVs. TCL looks just as good. Maybe I don't have special eyes.

I have the Roku version of this TV and you can definitely cast to it from Android without a dongle.
What is the tech used for casting? I have Chromcast, Google Home products, Roku, Roku TV, and others. My Android devices will natively see Chromecast and Google Home products, but none of the Roku devices.

Xfinity app is supported on Roku but not Android TV. May be possible to side load but Roku just works.

Same for Spectrum and agree about Roku. Still, Android TV has its advantages too, such as a built-in Chromecast. Sideloading does look possible.

I've been leaning towards Android TVs simple to be able to cast to them without a dongle.
Just got 2 android TVs there operating system is really slow compared to roku but the prices I got were steals. Last year most of the Black Friday TVs were roku but more expensive this year most of the TVs are android and less expensive. Android TVs are ok but need improvement on speed and connectivity other than that roku will be Much faster and easier to use.

I grabbed this last time around and stacked my red card discount with it. Easy set up, and a great tv for the kids playroom. Would recommend.

In developer settings change the animation scale settings and the number of background processes and its just as a snappy as Roku.

The TLDR is that yes TCL's w/ Android OS had this issue. It's since been patched by TCL. But if it's a thing that bothers even after the patch ppl just advise not connecting the TV directly to your network and just using a streaming stick/box.

I know some of it is subjective, but I have the 50" onn from Walmart. Wondering which one would be better for a third computer monitor. I've got a 32" curved wide for productivity/ gaming would us the second / third for YouTube etc and maybe some extra screen space for work etc. I got the onn for $120 I believe.

I love the Android GUI and the fact that I can add just about any apk. I bought a p series Vizio and had to buy a Shield because I missed it so much. Trust its the way to go.

True, but you can't cast from as many apps. For example, I can't cast from Google Photos to my TCL TV.

Got one of these last month. Lasted exactly one hour before the backlight died. After attempting to have TCL ship a new one, they decided to inform me two weeks alter that they'll only repair it. Ahhh, no thanks. Returned to Target for a better brand name.

been using mine daily as a monitor for work since the very first deal. I keep it on 40-50 hrs a week. no complaints other than some minor ghosting on certain text/background color combinations. Have also used it to watch a few shows via the built-in OS/apps
