So for someone with a laptop with USB type A ports, a smart phone with USB C and NFC, which Yubikey model is better?

If you put a YubiKey on your LastPass account can you still use LP on your phone? How would that work?

I currently require a code from LP authenticator app along with the master password.

Can anyone explain in simple terms what use these keys are for and how they are used for better security?

Currently, I just use keypass on my PC and mobile.

I'd personally go for usb-a.
Modern android phones are FIDO certified and in some places they can be used in place of yubikey.

On other side Yubikey are great for both Windows and Linux. You can use them for passwordless authentication via Windows Hello/PAM, use them as ssh keys, use them for GPG encryption and much more.

It looks like we brought the Yubico site down. I was in the middle of checking out and got this message:

Under Maintenance
We'll be back shortly
yubico
Come on, we were just scratching the surface. They need better web hosting platform!

Whats this about not working with lastpass? Is there even a key that isn't a 5 at this point? does anyone know if USB-A to USB-C adapter would allow a USB-A key to be used in a USB-C laptop? or will it work through a dongle?
The blue key in the picture on the OP is a NFC key that is not gen 5. Those i believe don't work with Lastpass or lastpass on phones.

So google authenticator is on your phone? I have seen some do the spoofing of the number and get the pin on that phone.
Yes, its an app on my phone.

Quote from fyu :
This keeps it off your phone. Security wise its slightly better. Your phone can theoretically be hacked.
This hardware key is much harder to hack.
Well even my work VPN uses the authenticator app for 2FA, so I am not sure if its that easy to hack someone's phone.

So all this key does is replace the authenticator app? Is it like the RSA tokens where you used to enter the keys manually in your vpn app? Now that everyone is moving away from the physical RSA tokens to app based, why should we go back to physical keys?

I hosted bitwarden on my local windows PC (bitwardenRs) and plan to use these keys with bitwarden. I like using authenticator, but I dont want anything over phone that can be spoofed.

OMG yes. i have the same question. Would the cheaper key works on Bitwarden or do i need Yubikey5?

Edit: found this, "Any YubiKey that supports OTP can be used. This includes all YubiKey 4 and 5 series devices, as well as YubiKey NEO and YubiKey NFC."

10% ca$hb@ck as well at a popular site. Saves about $9.50 on a 2-pack of NFC USB-C models.

Note that you should always buy a minimum of 2, because if you ever lose a key you don't want to be locked out of your accounts. (should always have 2 associated).
Can someone pvt me the "popular site" please?
