Resolved: Exclusions with a flag?

2 10 November 23, 2020 at 10:58 AM
Question - is there a flag I can use to exclude a deal that might have met one or more criteria, but it's not really what I'm looking for?

For example, I've got something set up currently like:

Smart|connected|Homekit|echo

I'll get tons of deals and that's great, but I'll get a few for some products that might have 'smart' or 'connected in them, but aren't what I'm looking for.

Let's say I don't want to get a deal on widgets, could I just add something like !widgets to the end of my string from above and just replace the ! with the flag or character that could exclude something?

Thanks
Chris

One of our Community Managers has a nice Deal Alert FAQ post:
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=67718300&postcount=540

Hopefully this section will help you:

Excluding Keywords
Q: How do I set an alert that will only trigger if the deal post does NOT include a certain keyword or phrase?
A: Place a minus sign, "-", before each keyword you want to add as an exclusion.
Placing a space between the minus sign and the keyword is optional.

Examples:
kindle -ymmv
will trigger for any post that includes the word 'kindle' but not the term 'ymmv'

kindle - ymmv
will function the same as above

kindle -"price mistake"
will trigger for any post that includes the word 'kindle' but does not include the phrase 'price mistake'.

FS -shoprunner | prime
will trigger for any post post that includes the term 'FS' as well as either includes the word 'prime' or does not have the term 'shoprunner'
