My conclusion is that it was (possibly, likely) dreamed up to scam customers into having to refill their gas canisters more often. How it works: the 3 buttons basically determine how long the gas is injected into the canisters. However, at a certain pressure the gas begins escaping the safety valve, and there is a negligible difference in fizziness for further injections. On a full canister this is easily achieved with the first button (lowest setting). The other 2 buttons will just waste your gas. As the canister becomes empty, then it makes sense to use the other buttons since the pressure gradually runs out and requires more injections to achieve the same level of bubbles. But if you use the 3rd (highest) button from the start, the canister will last a week or two at most....wasting money. It took me awhile to figure this out, but you've been warned.
