You can definitely use it as a baby monitor. It has all the same functions of your standard baby monitor

I've been waiting on an outdoor camera deal but has anyone tried putting the indoor in a window to get the outdoor view you want?

I've used one of theses as a baby monitor for the last 2 years for my son, and am purchasing another one for our new baby coming in April. We've absolutely loved it! The app is really good at monitoring alerts, great visibility in the dark, a microphone to talk to our son (to let him know when it's okay to come out, or if he has to stay in his room a little longer). We don't even have the nest aware subscription, but still get a lot of value out of it.

Is there any reason to get google cams over the new $20 wyze cam?

Wyze will always be hot garbage to me even if their new products fixes their old flaws.

Downloading a 5 minute video should not take 5 minutes on the iOS app. It should also not be corrupted or borked on download in Android.

Remote playback is essentially downloading the file...and it so every second must pass before playback ensues. Horrible misery if you have some incidents you're not sure of you want to check out.

Slight delay - not sure what slight means to you. Takes almost 2mins for me. It's so bad that I don't even rely on that integration.
Mine is only a 10 second delay. I just screen mirror my phone instead of using the app on Google devices.

Operating Temperature 32°–104°F (0°–40°C)

So much for having a camera in my Garage. 32 is a warm day during a Minnesota winter. And my garage during a July/August summer day? I can see 104 being exceeded, also.

We have the whole Nest set up, IQ outdoor above the garage and a handful of outdoor/indoor cameras. Love that they all use a power source instead of batteries. My only annoyance is you will get an email alert when a camera goes offline (which happens relatively often). I'm in school so I have to check email often, so to have some peace of mind I blocked Google's email address and it's been great since.

It can run up your internet data usage (if you don't have unlimited) if you have a bunch of these cameras. On the highest video quality setting for these indoor cameras, the Nest app says it will use, depending on Low/Med/High — 30gb / 120gb / 300 gb per month for one camera. The IQ cameras use between 100, 200, 300, or 400gb per month if you're trying to do 4K quality.

If I only need live access ( as baby monitor) I don't need subscription, right?
