I had some lanterns like this. They're cheap, but battery life is abysmal, there's better options out there.

Right this second there's none, but you know what's worse than a cheap product? A cheap product that won't even last a night or a weekend without dying on you, and that's exactly what these cheap Chinese mass produced lanterns are. You can get these self same lanterns under hundreds of brands, they all suck, and often for less than $5 a pop, let alone being forced to buy 4 of them to get that price.

These aren't bad, especially for $5/apiece.
Dealt with a natural disaster this year that left us without power for 10 days. These were great. We hung them upside down from the ceiling fan. Plenty bright. Easy to replace batteries. Will always keep them in my emergency kit.

With 4 of them, you'll almost always have at least one working when you need it!

Honestly, these are great for power outages, much better than flashlights or headlamps. Also perfect for exploring haunted lighthouses and stuff like that. They would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for you meddling SDers and your blinding LED lanterns!

Bought these during a previous deal. Lasted over a weekend without issue or replacing batteries. Would buy again.

I have one of these, it definitely feels cheap plastic but the brightness is pretty good and it's super small and lightweight which is good if you want minimal packing for camping. Haven't tested it's battery life yet though.
