Uh, no backlit keyboard, made of plastic. Last year's motile laptops is much better than this and I got it for $200 too. I might consider if they drop the price to $100-$200 more next month.
One of the reviewers states the keyboard is backlit.

I don't know why it makes me so happy to see that Gateway is still a thing but it does. Takes me back to the dial-up days. Miss that cow.

Gateway was the bomb back when I was in technical sales in 1994. I had one that had a 17" CRT for Doom. I still have the speaker and subwoofer system in my kids desktop. I'm sure it's just a licensed name at this point.
94? the good old day without cell phones and the late great 2pac and Biggie making beats that people are still playing to this day.

2.5/5 on pcmag.com. I'll pass

THE BOTTOM LINE
The Gateway name returns in the underpowered Ultra-Slim, a desktop-replacement laptop that needs more pep, more slim, and a better build to compete in 2020.

PROS
Ample RAM
Both Type-A and Type-C USB ports
Bovine-themed box and wallpaper

CONS
Uninspiring plastic construction
Tepid performance
"Ice Lake" CPU with Intel UHD Graphics, not Iris Plus
Subpar audio
Some key-layout compromises

Why buy 3 of these when you can get 1 macbook pro for $1200? Lol
Cause there are 3 kids instead of 1 spoiled brat.

Which to go with? This or https://slickdeals.net/e/14481749-best-buy-black-friday-hp-pavilion-gaming-laptop-ryzen-5-4600h-15-6-1080p-8gb-ddr4-256gb-ssd-gtx-1650-449-99-starts-11-22-20?page=89#commentsBox

Plan on using for stadia/geforce now for my kids. Maybe some light steam, but no heavy lifting. Either I think will check the boxes, just wondering which is better buy.

Thanks
Unless the weight of the laptop is a big concern to you, I would definitely get the best buy one.

Actually, the i5-1035G1 comes with the base Gen11 graphics which is quite a bit better than the UHD 620.

WOW! I wish I could get this. Even though I have a MacBook Pro it would be nice to have a Windows laptop just in case.

What do you mean 'could'? What's stopping you?

I think I would pick one up, if I could confrim it had a backlit keyboard, but I could not confirm it. Not that it is he final answer, but there was one review that stated:

"When I opened the case, I noticed there was a spot for a backlit keyboard. It would have been nice if this laptop had the option. "

Haha, that's all we had growing up. The Cow print boxes, and I think they had the name "Gateway 2000" until we got closer to the year ...2000. lol One of them even had a three disc changer CD drive in the build.

Read the same review. They were comparing it to $600 laptops. At $400 the calculation is a lot different.

Ok. Need to get my mom a laptop for email, web browsing, office, and zoom. Would 720p really differ than 1080p for these needs? Which laptop should I get her from all the black Friday deals?
