Second the question regarding how this sounds compared to JBL Charge 2? Can two of these be paired for surround sound??
Yes, they can pair a bunch of these to play in unison

I like Harmon Kardon quality and brand but I'm going to pass. I like how the next version up (onyx 5) has 3.5 audio input. And nowadays I prefer if there was some visual indicator that the microphone is on.
This model also has auxiliary input...

How does this compare to google home max? Appreciate any input. Thanks!

Would like to know this as well. Just bought a Google home max
The Studio 4 doesn't compare to Home Max but the Citation 300 does, and beats it for sound quality. They go on sale for around $150 pretty regularly. Refurbs are less frequently available and are $130 when they are on sale. Have two of them paired in stereo here and amazed at how great they sound. The Citation 300 also has google assistant.

I bought a white Onyx Studio 4 during the last sale and love it. It sounds great and has better battery life than my Onyx Studio 3. It's an awesome speaker for this price.

The closest solution I have found to this problem is a workaround using a Google Chromecast (I had one laying around that we didn't use), a $10 HDMI to VGA converter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VTJV...UTF8&psc=1 [amazon.com]
and a $5 female to female HDMI adapter.
The converter has a 3.5mm audio out that can be used to connect the Chromecast directly to the speaker via the auxiliary port. Since Chromecasts can be added to speaker groups through the Google Home app, it essentially turns it into a Chromecast Audio.

I thought of doing the same thing, but the adapter I bought requires external power. The one you linked looks much nicer. Too bad for me, I didn't realized Google also handicapped the 1st gen Chromecast by not allowing it to work with groups either. So I guess now I have to forget the whole thing or find a 2nd gen Chromecast for cheap.

Edit: found the same adapter as yours with female HDMI so you dont need the secondary adapter https://www.amazon.com/Tendak-Con...cs&sr=1-42

Purchased a pair of the 4's a month ago. Love them. Instant pairing and phenomenal sound.

Nice find! I just still wish we didn't have to use this kind of workaround but it is what it is. You can always buy a Chromecast brand new for $19 right now but I'm sure you can grab them used for $10 easily

Some of the reviews mention it isn't very reliable though. You said you unplugged yours because of the heat, so I assume you don't know how well it worked long-term?

This is the one I bought. It's bigger and more complicated, but the box is metal so maybe that will wick some heat away. I'll probably move forward with it just to see if it works. https://www.amazon.com/Extractor-...cs&sr=1-16

It doesn't. Sonos wins 100%

Not natively, no. There are workarounds available though. See the last comment on the previous page that describes why and how to get it to work.

That's the treble with modern speakers. For most people it's all about that bass.
Why bass?
