Paperwhite looks far better with little or no device lighting, and is readable much like a book. It keeps state in an interesting way - when you suspend it, the ads look like a newspaper or magazine and seem to use no battery power - mine will sit for weeks with no notable battery loss until I power it on. By this token, it is also likely to last on a battery longer. It is a fairly unique feature for a handful of e-readers and doesn't lead to eyestrain. Closest thing to a book I have used.

I will say this. I had an ad-supported paperwhite, and simply asked in chat if there was a way to control the type of ads to make sure they would be appropriate if my nephew was using the tablet. they just removed them without me asking..

Do with this what you will.
All you have to do is chat with Amazon and ask them how to remove the ads. They'll give you some spiel about it normally being a $15 charge but since you're such a good customer I'll remove them at no cost.

I've done this with all my Kindles laugh out loud
I feel like anyone complaining about ads on a kindle has never actually used a kindle that has ads...

Best Buy also has the same price as Amazon if anyone would rather go through them.

Same deal in Target as well, and if you have a Red Card, you can get an additional 5% off.

All the Kindle E-Readers are on sales now, not just the ad supported and all other variants of the Kindle. 30-33% off.

I did a trade in with my old paperwhite, got 20% off and $25 gift card. So total was about $50. No issues with old paperwhite but water proof is awesome for a relaxing bath reading!

Nice deal. Just thinking as this was released in 2018, and there are rumours of new paperwhite in early 2021.
