I went with the Samsung for $30 more mainly because it's for my sons room and got decent rating for gaming.

At the end of the day, it's a pass, low specs, a brand that has been out of the game for a while

This is NOT made by Sharp of Japan. This is a rebranded Chinese TV that is using Sharp's brand name as a licensing deal.

Regardless, Not made in Japan.
The actual panels themselves are made by Sharp in Japan; the TV itself is assembled by Foxconn in Mexico.

This is the only TV Sharp sells directly in the US currently (Sharp is being cautious about re-entering the US market after Hisense screwed them).

All the Hisense made ones (after Sharp sued Hisense for low quality and bought the naming rights back from Hisense) can be found at www.sharptvusa.com

It's not really correct. Foxconn acquired Sharp in 2016 and Foxconn is a Taiwan company, not China, two different countries. Sharp TV may mainly made in China but once Wisconsin panel factory starts to run smoothly, it has the chance panel will be from the states.
True except Foxconn won't be building that plant in WI. The deal has collapsed and WI got Fox "Conned' big time.

I see a lot of people dissing Sharp. I have a 55" 4k and it was made by Hisense. So this could be a Hisense set

Sharp was the pioneer in LCD and own several patents still licensed to sony and other mfr.

So understand what you're buying

My parents been using 70in sharp Android 4k tv for 6 years working flawlessly. If I needed another TV, id pick this up for price

Plus its full array local dimming

UNDERSTAND what you're buying !

Hmm.. I heard something about the future plans for the Wisconsin factory not looking too hot right now. Foxconn is legit though, they're the manufacturer for many US tech giants such as Apple.

huh...did not know that Sharp is still making TV!!! I have a Sharp Aquos TV that I am using for a long time (was higher end model at that time). I thought Sharp was bought by Hisense.....
I thought the same, too. We have a 65" Sharp that we just replaced with a C9 but it was only until this summer that I learned that Sharp had stopped making TVs and that Hisense had something to do with Sharp after that.

Find me a consumer-grade (or any grade) TV that is made in Japan.

The Best Buy 70" is a 2020 version of Sharp Japan's 4T-C-BH series. https://jp.sharp/aquos/products/4...tline.html
This is Sharp's most basic line of 4K TVs. According to Sharp Japan's specifications it has Sharps' "Rich Color" engine which supports Wide Color Gamut and HDR10. This technology is very similar to Sony's "Triluminous" led color engine. However, dimming is full frame, so although it does dim it is not localized. Brightness advertised BB says "300 candela per square meter", assuming this is for both SDR and HDR content this figure is mediocre, 300 often scores 6.3 for SDR and 5.1 for HDR at Rtings.com. However, there is an anti-reflection film applied and viewing angles are good so this TV is best for a dark to medium lit room. Panel is VA so contrast should be very good. It also has a quad smoothing engine like Sony, and Panasonic but not as robust like Sony's X1 processor so there will be some after imaging effect. All said and done, this is not a bad deal. Would probably score a 7.2 on Rtings.com.
