It's not really correct. Foxconn acquired Sharp in 2016 and Foxconn is a Taiwan company, not China, two different countries. Sharp TV may mainly made in China but once Wisconsin panel factory starts to run smoothly, it has the chance panel will be from the states.
The Foxconn Wisconsin factory was a con job, won't ever make big TVs.
They didn't say it was a Chinese company, just that it was a Chinese TV. It's most likely made in China, where they have their offices doesn't really matter.
Oh Come onnnnn, thats like saying gold jewelry is all from africa (becUse they found the gold there?)
The Best Buy 70" is a 2020 version of Sharp Japan's 4T-C-BH series. https://jp.sharp/aquos/products/4...tline.html
This is Sharp's most basic line of 4K TVs. According to Sharp Japan's specifications it has Sharps' "Rich Color" engine which supports Wide Color Gamut and HDR10. This technology is very similar to Sony's "Triluminous" led color engine. However, dimming is full frame, so although it does dim it is not localized. Brightness advertised BB says "300 candela per square meter", assuming this is for both SDR and HDR content this figure is mediocre, 300 often scores 6.3 for SDR and 5.1 for HDR at Rtings.com. However, there is an anti-reflection film applied and viewing angles are good so this TV is best for a dark to medium lit room. Panel is VA so contrast should be very good. It also has a quad smoothing engine like Sony, and Panasonic but not as robust like Sony's X1 processor so there will be some after imaging effect. All said and done, this is not a bad deal. Would probably score a 7.2 on Rtings.com.
If it does have wide color gamut, this would be comparable to the Vizio MQ6 which is $599 at Best Buy. That is also wide color gamut and no local dimming.

Yea so curious what Rtings would give it. I'm trying to decide between this, Hisense BB deal (65 for $250 or 75 for $600), or Costco Vizio deal (70" for 400-500).
Those got 6.7 and 6.8 respectively so sounds like this is the winner.
I just received it. Everything is great. It's Made in Mexico. (Very glad it's not Made in China) PRC). Android TV is easy to use. Remote works very well. There is no lag as reported by someone. Remote works with IR right away but needs to be paired for using the mic. Pairing takes 10 seconds. Only thing is that this TV is heavy. Two people needed to mount it. It replaced my 2011 Samsung 55" 6050 LED TV. Picture quality is just as good of not better. The best part is that I don't need Roku anymore. The processor is pretty quick. Apps open instantly. Ethernet connected Right away and Wifi can detect far away neighbor's routers. The remote is small and ergonomic. As always it will take a little getting used to. Bluetooth 5.0 is an added plus. Watched a Costa Rica 4K video on YouTube. Just amazed by the details and brightness. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. Definitely worth more than $500. Heck these days a mid range smartphone costs more than that. Plus free delivery by two people from Best Buy who brought it up to my second floor room? Even Costco doesn't do this for free. Best $500 spent in 2020.

that's good to hear. I missed out on the Hisense deals. so I guess the decision is easy now.
Once upon a time, this was a brand worth getting. That's not the case anymore. TV brands no one should bother with in 2020 are, in no particular order, Sharp, Philips, RCA, Panasonic and Mitsubishi (Yeah. They made TVs.).
Feel free to add to the list.
Also, as a general rule of thumb, TVs this large, for this cheap, are never "good" TVs. It'll get you through each day, but it's not going to compare to a lot of other TVs. Even the regular price of this TV is way too cheap for the size. You're definitely going to get what you pay for.

True, this will be expensive on the long run. Better off pay little more for something that lasts longer
There is no business to make them anymore when you have CHINA (Trumps voice) making everything cheap cheap. Higher model Panasonic Plasmas (RIP) were made in Japan
I had a Japanese panel Sharp 60" 1080P flat screen that lasted for 12 years (the panel never died, the TVs electronics did). I was going to buy another Sharp last year when it died, and then found out that all the Sharp TVs were now made in China.
So instead of buying another Sharp, which I had planned to do, I just bought a really good 65" Chinese TV instead (TCL R6). No such thing as an American TV anymore really, at least not yet.
I did see the post about a panel factory in Wisconsin though, that's good news. If they ever get it up and running properly maybe I'll look for a panel from there for my next TV, if there is a way to figure out which TVs those panels go into.
Solid price for this Sharp though. Still a pretty good deal even if it is a Chinese rebrand.
