Sharp, Samsung, LG, I don't care, I just wish SOMEONE would make a medium or higher end 70" screen. They are all the budget end junk. My wife's entertainment center that we had to have is half and inch too narrow to hold a 75. I have a Samsung 8000 series now. Its getting long in the tooth. Has terrible HDR. But its a solid set that is hard to replace with a cheapo

Foxcon has no plans to make lcd panels in Wisconsin. That was merely a ploy to bank billion dollar tax concessions.
Yep, that Foxconn head named Terry Gou was playing Trump like a fool.

My stone age Sharp Aquos LCD 52" is a champ, never failed me, not once. I did happen to stroll into BestBuy on Black Friday to check out T.V.'s....once I laid eyes on the OLED's, I realized I need to save a bit more...that picture is a thing of beauty, made all other T.V.'s look like they were from the stone age.

Because they have the persona of making low-quality products. It hasn't gone away and it probably won't in our lifetime. I enjoy my iPhone though...
in "your" lifetime, Not our lifetime. You don't represent many people. I love my Made in China TCL TVs and Lenovo computers and TP router. Their quality is exceptional.

This is insane. If u would have told me in 2004 that I could buy a 70" HDTV, never mind 4k, for $500 I would have called u crazy.

The Foxconn Wisconsin factory was a con job, won't ever make big TVs.

That's right! That factory won't even happen in the way they represented to American politicians.

They do. Sony, for example, makes high end TVs. They even have 8k TVs already. The question is are u willing to pay higher prices for higher end.

The best value TV for the money if you can get today is TCL 6 series 2020 version with mini-LEDs. I got lucky and snagged one 75 inch for $950 here a couple months back. Or, You can get Sony X900H 75 inch for $1500 on a deal right now. They are very comparable with the Sony slightly more future proof because it can support 120hz 4k for ps5 and xbox x. The TCL can only do 120hz 1440p. If you aren't gaming, this doesn't matter at all.

For comparison, your budget Samsung 8000 series vs. TCL 6 series 2020 ($950)/Sony X900H ($1500). The mid range TCL/Sony beats it by pretty much in all areas. Way brighter, better HDR, better color, local dimming, screen uniformity. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...eshold=0.1
The Samsung 8000 series is comparable to the 75 inch $500-600 TVs today: TCL 4 series, Hisense, Samsung Tizen, Sharp Aquos. I'll say it is brighter at 290 nits but not by much.

All budget TVs 75 inch $500-600 has bad HDR, no local dimming, low brightness like this TV but a lot of people don't care about that; they just want size. If you are picky like me, you will end up spending more for better picture. That's up to you.

This, or the $50 cheaper Hisense. I'm thinking this might be slightly better quality than the hisense (since Sharp apparently dropped the name contract with Hisense due to quality)? I had the 70" Element for $300, but it died after a few days. They are only willing to give me my money back as they are sold out everywhere, and I'm already used to the 70" size...

Basically, I want the best 70-75" tv I can find for under $700, perferably with Roku tv but willing to use Android tv (and would prefer not one of the lg or samsung garbage systems where I would need a separate roku with separate remote for my all-streaming/antenna setup).

Its not 120 refresh rate as they mention, the real refresh rate is 60 for this tv. "effective" refresh rate is just made up refresh rate to make a fool out of someone who's not paying attention.

It's not really correct. Foxconn acquired Sharp in 2016 and Foxconn is a Taiwan company, not China, two different countries. Sharp TV may mainly made in China but once Wisconsin panel factory starts to run smoothly, it has the chance panel will be from the states.

Try telling China they are 2 different countries....

China and Taiwan are separate sovereign states.
Unless you are still in denial.

China and Taiwan are not separate countries.
So who makes better TV?

PRC or ROC?

Whatever makes you go to sleep. Dont even care, its a 70 inch TV for 500. If it was a real Sharp Aquos, it would have been priced way more than 500.
Don't even care? You cared enough to spout misinformation and nonsense throughout this thread as if you actually knew what you were talking about.
I guess you could have just said "I was wrong".
