I know this is out of stock now, but for future reference, how does this compare to the Walmart Gateway RTX 2060 deal @ $649.99?

Not true, I just weighed my HP Omen 15 from Best buy the other day
The laptop itself is around 4 lb 10.3 oz, I'd say still light for a 15 incher

The 4800H + RTX 2060 combo was never found for this price except for the infamous ASUS TUF A15 with the bad thermals problem though.

Sure if you don't want to change anything, this won't do, but if like me you look for a laptop with 32GB and 2TB of SSD (or even 1TB), these options are at outrageous prices usually, because the retailers gouge you for anything above 8-16GB RAM and 256-512GB SSD.
Here you have the smallest amount possible: 8GB RAM+256GB SSD, so you know you haven't lost money if like me you know you are going to upgrade. For instance any laptops with 16GB+512GB SSD are useless in that case, and usually more expensive.

In addition to that, the HP OMEN are apparently decently well built.
Can you point me to the bad thermals review for the ASUS TUF A15 with the 2060?

I have the gateway and you will see same performance in gaming in both laptops but expect better performance in everything else with the ryzen 7 on the hp.

The Best Buy deal (still active) for the same unit but with 16 GB RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, and GTX 1660 Ti for $950 is the better option.

Is it me or is the pandemic making people panic buy everything in sight like toilet paper? Like every computer component, computers and laptops sell in seconds like they are buying rations of food before the world ends? And considering unemployment at all a high where do these stay at home people get the money to buy thousands of dollars of non essentials anyway? Such a weird time.

There are a few on YouTube. I think Hardware Unboxed did one as well as Jarrod's Tech. The problem supposedly is too few vents under the laptop, this was done to pull air across all components.

I think there are plenty of people like me that purchased numerous laptops to see what is the best deal and then return the rest. I still don't know what the deal is with toilet paper but I buy some because it is getting scarce again.

You ever see what the return line looks like at a retail location after Black Friday or the holidays? Sheesh with the social distancing the line would probably span around the block. Knowing this damn well I don't want to buy anything I'd have a faintest chance might return.

The return period is until mid-January, so there is plenty of time to return. Also I live in a small city so the lines aren't bad.

That and in general lower supply due to the pandemic.
