This is tough... I picked up the $949 BB deal and think I'll probably keep it. The 2060 adds RTX and 10-20% ish performance over my 1660ti, right? So in a AAA game I could have like 60fps on 1660ti vs 66-70 on 2060? I think I'll hold onto mine, it is great. Good deal though!

No to mention that the 3070 and 3080 laptops will probably be close to 2K+ when they are released so yeah not even a close comparison.

What will be interesting to see are the 3060 variants but the problem is that those laptops will still be 1400-1600 dollars. And availability on all 3XXX chips that will be dicey until 2021. Who knows when we will actually see them out on laptops.
If they lead with $2000+ laptops they are in for a rude economy awakening..

Best buy deal is probably better for most. 2060 is like 3-5% faster than 1660ti. 50 more bucks for 16gb ram and 1tb ssd plus no messing with reinstall windows install new ram install new ssd is definitely worth it.

This is actually a fantastic price for the specs. Kinda surprising coming from HP directly.

One thing to note is it's a heavy beast at nearly 5.5lbs. Not something I'd like to carry around every day.
5.5 lbs, including charger. it's actually around 4.3 lbs

That's the predatory price collusion at mainly best buy and Amazon all pandemic long. .
That's the pricing anywhere in the US. You might need to look up what predatory pricing is.

The US has the best deals for laptops than really any other country. We're lucky. No need to complain 😊

If that's true, it's much better than I thought.

2060 also adds ray tracing. DLSS 2.0 is the tech that not only adds ray tracing, but can increase framerates too. So not only will the game look much better, but you'll get much higher frame rates.

Worth it in itself, imo. Will add a few years of future proofing, since all the new gen titles are utilizing it.

The 3070 and 3080 are for niche markets. Majority of gamers will settle for the 3060 or slower. There is a reason why you don't see the 2080 laptops or even the 2070 laptops as often.

They could price the 3080 laptops at 3k and still get buyers.

Since I pondered a lot about this, if you check here [notebookcheck.net], you will see that on the 4 action games released in 2020 where you can see stats:
- Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War
- Assassin´s Creed Valhalla
- Dirt 5
- Watch Dogs Legion
the 1660 is 20-40% behind the 2060 in FHD High. And even more at higher settings (Ultra), or at higher resolutions if you play on WQHD/4K on an external monitor for instance.
So it's pretty sizeable, and I think the RTX 2060 is more futureproof in that respect. That was one of the arguments that helped me decide.

How would this do for a lightroom/adobe and 4k streaming laptop? No soldered ram right?

Yeah, this is not accurate at all. The 1660ti version has been hovering around $1,000-$1,150 all year. I didn't even know the 2060 version was officially out.

This is an incredible steal.
The 1660ti version with 16gb and 1tb ssd was 950 few days ago...
