SO wanted the ridiculously expensive Dyson just to do the carpeted stairs. I wonder if this $30 one will be decent enough for that.

Dyson was life changing for me. IMHO V7 was worth it for me @ $180. It gets used multiple times a day. The $30 one here is wired, so not comparable. Most comparable wireless ones start in the $110 range. $70 extra for dyson wasn't too much of stretch for me to make SO happy. Happy wife, happy life.

bought the $30 vacuum. Good reviews on amazon and plus I prefer corded anyway so I dont need to recharge. For $30, not a big lost if its a bust

I do too want a lightweight powerful vacuum with brushroll for cleaning the three carpeted stairs. Finally went for a $56.99 refurbished shark uv450 on woot [woot.com]keeping my fingers crossed (will update after delivery).

If I hadn't done that I might get this one. I don't want a cordless vacuum since they will lose power eventually. There are also several new shark rockets for under $100 available.

The refurbished shark uv450 seems to work for carpet stairs; no complaint here except only one, not two, microfiber pad is included. The main body and brushroll are used extensively but everything else is new.
