No. Merlin only works on Broadcom CPUs, this has a Qualcomm CPU.

Wifi 6 in a $45 router..
Honestly, I wouldn't go through all the trouble to go from AC1200 to AC1200 when you can spend a little more and get AC1750 or AC1900 or just save your money if your current setup is working.
Couldn't care less*

I'd also kill support on a 10 year old router.

Little advice please.

Would this be a upgrade to a 3 year router I have below?

Medialink AC1200 Wireless Gigabit Router - Gigabit (1000 Mbps) Wired Speed & AC 1200 Mbps Combined Wireless Speed (Part# MLWR-AC1200R)

Specs look similar but asus can give you better speeds and coverage if you are having any issues with your current ones

What connection do you have and do you get those speeds via your wifi ?

Also asus says they support 3000 sqft which is usually much more than other ac1200 ones I see .

Nothing on the Amazon page, including the "from manufacturer" that's says this is AImesh compatible

It's not on the list of supported routers and from what I can tell it doesn't support custom firmware.

I am currently running asus rt-ac87r with Merlin and radios off using deco m9s in AP mode. Any performance gain from getting a new router with my set up. I can't see any reason but thought I would check. Thanks

Perfect for my parents. Their router is ten years old. Tried to freaking update the firmware today and it said error. Turns out it's a known problem and linksys could care less.
