Have been looking at security camera options recently and was just watching some v3 reviews the other day. Was already planning on purchasing one, so this is a no brainer!

I preordered 5 of these v3 cameras at full price with no promos directly through wyze a week ago. never pays to be a loyal customer, it seems. I even give them money every month for the 'free' AI human detection feature they had on the v2 cameras and begged money for. grrrr.

Doing the math, this is a pretty good deal ($10 off) but not amazing.

You're subscribing to Cam Plus at a higher rate than it costs normally ($1.25 vs $1.99) which ends up costing you $8.88 more (they even say it will renew for $15/year instead of the $23.88 you must pay for the first year). Then you have to pay $7 shipping plus tax (is the tax on the full price of the camera?). So $16+tax shipped for the Wyze Cam 3, basically about $10 off normal price.

Total cost is $30.88+tax. So if you don't need or want Cam Plus, you're spending more money than it would be to purchase the camera without CamPlus. I have AI detection on two cameras from buying in Wyze when they had AI, and I'm happy with V2 so I'm going to pass.

I hate the "Cool Down" period between triggers like this 12 second clip of a leaf blowing across the driveway tired the camera so much that it needs 5 minutes to cool down and not record the next 5 minutes where you miss out on potential important things.

I like the cameras but man, they definitely looking to nickel and dime you.
I'll be ok with paying $50 for a camera that has every feature available from the beginning.

Does anyone know if you have to use the Cam Plus License right away when you purchase it? Or can you wait to use/activate it? Does it expire?

Nope, they were going to come to PHX, then it fell apart. I have two internet options, CentutyLink - which sucks or Cox. Completely stuck.
