0 for 3 on it this week. Each time I've tried cancelling because of time to deliver it just goes straight outright cancelling the order. This was on a new Samsung account as well (I've never got that discount offered to me before).
Wait till its shipped then contact the customer rep. I tried canceling using the button it didnt work, but talking to rep worked.

I paid full price for this monitor when it came out. I went through 3 returns and I will never buy another unit.

The first one I received, nearly half of the monitor won't lit up with two hours of use. The second had three vertical dark lines after just turning it on. The third one won't power up. I don't know who is doing quality control, but man I had great hope for this monitor after I saw Linus review.

I'm glad I still have my 5 years old 34" dell monitor.

A good rule of thumb is check your favorite game benchmarks in 4k. This monitor will game very close to the same FPS as a 4k monitor so choose your GPU accordingly. I play Warzone a lot and based on benchmarks I would need an RTX 3090 to push this 100 fps.
This is generally correct; however keep in mind you can drop down quality to decrease GPU load which ends up being CPU based.

For example in overwatch, I can maintain frames with occasional drop outs over 100 at high settings, but to push that up over 180, I need to drop the quality down to medium/low settings. Then the bottleneck becomes the cpu.

So there's a balance to maintain frames between CPU and GPU relative to quality.

If all you wanted were to run things at maximum quality, a 240 hz monitor isn't necessarily the way to go as you pointed out for your game.

I could game on my 3017 ultrasharp with true color out of the box at 60 frames and it's an amazing monitor for that particular function, but for FPS it just wouldn't cut it.

I hemmed and hawed for awhile on this, especially after losing out the 38 Alienware after I contemplated on it too long. After a bunch of refreshing, in for 1 with epp and the small CB. Delivery in Feb though, so I'll try to see if I can get customer care to drop it 10%. If anyone has views on this vs that Alienware, would love it.

This one - it uses the same panel as the LG Gear 38 (nano-color IPS), but has 600'HDR and a Gsync Ultimate module. Was able to be had for ~1100 with CB and 10% email coupon.

so Im guessing youre paying for the IPS in that one? If you want the best image quality possible in a LCD, then you should get IPS. But VAs can be good. Specs in the samsung g9 are better, other than the panel type.

True. Warzone is terribly optimized. I can get 100 at lowest settings or 90 at max. The settings make no difference on the GPU at 3440x1440. I'm sure it helps the CPU but thats not where the bottleneck is at this resolution.

Could you explain how? That's just the pre-tax list price on the website. I am not factoring in other potential savings like CB, PayPal/chase savings, etc.

Same boat. I dropped the ball on the 3821dw for $1200. But I got the Samsung down to $932 after the 10% buyback. For the $300 difference, I would go with the Alienware in a heartbeat. The Samsung will be more immersive though but the panel and overall quality (Not to mention Dell's support) makes it a no brainer.

Pick up the Odyssey now and hold it, they don't ship for at least a month+. So lock this deal in just in case the Alienware doesn't do a deal before it ships. If it does, cancel this and pick it up.

I see you too are a man/woman of forward-planning. This is exactly what I plan to do. I'm actually worried the G9 won't fit as I am going to attempt to pair it with my current ultrawide Predator x34 in a 65inch wide space with two 90 degree corners (think bay window). I've seen photos of it fit perfectly in a corner, so here's hoping, but if the alienware shows back up, I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Problem is the stars lined up for that deal, combination of CB being 12%, Chase having 5% on rewards, etc, doubt we'll see it again so soon. Other thing I'm interested in is if the gsync ultimate is really worth drooling over or not.
