Would this be enough to burn the cat? Want buy one for a friend that doesnt stfu about his cats. And if this ends up hurting the cats then i wont ever hear the end of it.

No. It measures its own heat output and limits itself. He can test it by putting his arm on it for 20 min or so. It gets warm, but not so hot that it could burn. Plus, even the most bloopy cat is going to move when they get overheated.

The K&H Thermo heated kitty mats are the best, I must own 8 or 9 of them, a must for cat owns with cat in cold area or older cats with joint issues.

Coincidentally I bought this exact same model from chewy about a month ago for a dumped cat (non feral) that adopted us and lives in our backyard. Set it up yesterday as we had rain storms predicted. Set up under a walkway. Would not work if left completely uncovered. I had to pin open one of the plastic door flaps for him to use. Stayed in his new home all night. Recommend.

Installed on top of paver bricks to keep rain from drenching bottom of it.

Pad stays mildly warm. Never hot.

Put it inside a storage bin that you cut a hole in it for access. Will probably double or triple the life span of the A frame easily by keeping it from the elements like rain, dust, sun etc.

Personally I use storage bins with a cardboard boxes inside them and Old clothes for insulation around the cardboard box and as bedding. Then I use these pet pads with the cat bin houses when it gets in the 40s or below (microwave them EXACTLY as the instructions say and never reheat them until they are at room temp again)

They retain heat very well inside a storage bin cat house. They lasted 5 years without any problems. The covers are worn and the stitching coming apart but i cover them with a old t-shirt when I put them in anyways and try to make them more comfortable with clothes around the heart pad as they are built and less for comfort lol. They will stay warm 8 to 12 hours easily with your cat /dog laying on them when you put them out. If your dog or cat doesn't lay on them soon after putting them out they last more like 4 to 6 hours bc your animals body heat helps them stay warm longer.

They are pricey at 30ish a piece but as long as you follow the heating instructions EXACTLY they will last a decade or more imo as I've had 4 for 5 years and they still work great and are built to last.

Do they make something like this for dogs? I have a 25lb goldendoodle.

PLEASE do not use regular human heating pads for animals. They get too hot, even on low, and could end up killing them.

I currently have 5 of the green ones lined up on the porch for the "farm" cats. My partner knows not to complain because this keeps them from becoming "inside" cats. It's all about compromise! They are definitely more aesthetically appealing than the tote with straw or insulation set up I started with.

Yea whats nice about this cat deal is they are regulated to run at 38c. So if its a heat wave, the unit will draw almost zero watts. If you put a frozen gallon of water on it, it will try to use the full 20 watts to get the water to 38c.

They are not magic and do not sense the weight of the cat or something.

Personally i buy just the heating pad with chew proof cord for 2 for $20. But they are indoor only.

have used it for years on my dog and cats. put a thick towel on top

dogs and cats are not frogs, they will get up if it' gets too hot.
