I got it for around $25 on an Amazon Warehouse deal in April.
1. They are made in the US, Colorado if I recall.
2. They are warm when no cat is on them, and then heat up when a cat sits on it.
3. They measure their own temperature so that your pet can't burn themselves.
4. The heating element is smaller than the base itself but by the time it warms up you wouldn't be able to tell.
5. They have two exits. A nice feature for the cats if this is placed outside or if you multiple animals and one likes to pounce on the other.

We've compromised on a new outdoor shed for the riding mower and all the abandoned and feral kitties who've found sanctuary at my back door will
have a warm place to go when it snows. lol
These are worth it for the heating K&H mats alone! Similar to the heated Halloween houses deal. I keep these deals in my cart and watch how low they go before pulling the trigger but once it hits SD I'm forced to buy. Grrr
