I love my Ninja Foodi 5 in 1 Grill without the probe. The probe is not essential .I read every review I could find before I got mine in August. There were a number of complaints about the probe malfunctioning and shutting off too soon. Since I use an instant read thermometer that cost $30 and I've had it for years, I opted for the less expensive version minus probe.. I chose the non probe version because of cost. Also grill said it did not require flipping and it does not. I love it. Use it for just about everything. During the summer it did not heat up the entire kitchen. Only time I used my big oven after it arrived was to bake a batch of cupcakes, 3 layers of cake and cookies. Love my Ninja but 24 cupcakes would have taken forever. 6 batches of 4 assuming you own a small muffin tin.
Three things. 1. It is best if you are cooking for two, otherwise multiple batches may be required.
2. It needs designated counter space. It is large and heavy enough you will not want to move it every time you use it.
3. It gets hot and requires non metal utensils. Silicone tongs, spatula, fork are the only tools that can handle the heat.
I used my kohl's cash for the $229 item on kohl's va the $160 deal here because the kohl's cash is use it or lose it. Sucks that I had to pay $70 more but it was free money so oh well
I just used mine for the first time the other day. Stuck in a piece of filet mignon, shoved the temperature probe in there, set the recommended temp for "Medium" doneness and within minutes I had a perfectly grilled piece of steak. Juicy inside, seared outside. I couldn't have asked for an easier to use thing, seriously. If you are on the fence, DO IT. Just read the manual first - it is an easy read.
Can anyone comment how much counterspace this thing takes up as the counters in my kitchen isn't too big and has cabinets overhead? Does the bottom get hot much and can I set this on a table to cook?
I bought this hoping it will motivate me to be a better cook allowing me to grill more and making use of the air fryer. Didn't want to go back to relying on a microwave again ever since it broke down months ago. This sounds like a better solution for healthier cooking.
I opted for this model with the probe since it costs just a little more and I need all the help I can get with cooking.

When closed: 15in (side) x 12in (front) x 10in (top)
When opened 19in (side) x 12in (front) x 16in (top)
The reason the length extends to 19in when opened is because the hinge of the lid sits at the base of the unit. I always forget to pull the device forward when cooking to give it some room to open. Luckily it is never hot to the touch on the outside.
I've always struggled with cooking/grilling meats even with a thermometer and a cast iron. I just can't do it for the life of me. The Ninja Foodi Grill completely upped my game. Smart move with the thermometer probe. You will not regret your purchase.
Edit: I've cooked burgers, steaks, pork chops, and chicken wing/leg/thigh using the grill function. The airfryer function works well too but I've only used it a handful of times.

Thank you for the information. I'm hoping my counter is big enough if I pull it forward a little or else I have to set it on the kitchen table when I cook.
I definitely need all the help in upping my game when it comes to cooking. Not expecting getting the Ninja to work miracles but this thing should help a lot and taking up only as much space as what my old microwave used to take up I hope and do so much more in the food I can "try" to make.
Wow. Literally just ordered from Kohl's today. Is it pretty easy to return at Kohl's?
Well Kohl's gives you $15 Kohl's cash for every $50 so I would keep the Kohl's one cuz you'll get $30 or $45 back and it's around the same price. Not to mention dealing with Kohl's will be easier for any returns or problems
Grabbed this after reading reviews on the newer XL one as most people say it seems like the newer one just doesn't heat up as much.
I don't have the XL model (and I don't need it, since it's just me), but after watching many video I think the XL just take a little longer to heat up/cook.
Can anyone advise how important the temperature probe is? Looks like that is the only difference between this model (Pro) and the regular 5-in-1 that is currently 169.99 at Kohls (169.99 - 15% = 144.49 after coupon), plus add a $6 filler to get $45 in kohls cash.
I'm trying to decide the the smart probe is important enough to get that model instead - the savings (especially factoring in the kohls cash) are more valuable on the Kohls (non-Pro) model.

I'm waiting for the XL to come down in price or for a new model that is deeper to come out.
