  • One of the most groundbreaking and influential television series of all time, the new showtime series picks up twenty-five years after the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. The new Twin Peaks is written and produced by series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost and is directed entirely by David Lynch. This collection includes all 18 parts of the Showtime series, plus a wealth of exclusive, behind-the-scenes special features that will show fans what's behind the red curtain and the making of this extraordinary television event.

Season one, season two, Fire Walk With Me, Missing Pieces, then Season 3 (The Return). Don't skip any episodes in season two even though they may be mad sketchy in quality. The Return is my favorite thing I've watched in the last decade. Not for everyone, but it is incredibly inventive storytelling and filmmaking. What year is this?
Definitely watch Fire Walk with Me before starting on the new series
How amusing is it to say "you won't understand the new series if you haven't watched FWWM"? Because after FWWM, clearly the new series makes total sense.............

I still haven't watched this new Twin Peaks. I need to check it out. I enjoyed the original series. Weird, but very entertaining. Smilie

AMC's The Killing is pretty similar to Twin Peaks (on Hulu [hulu.com] and Prime via IMDb [amazon.com])

I echo what others say about watching Fire Walk With Me first; it definitely helps add context to a very lovely, wonderful, confusing, dark, and strange series. Season 3 is downright incredible in my opinion.

This was meh imo. It was more an ode to David Lynch and his other works as opposed to Twin Peaks in general.

I absolutely LOVED Twin Peaks in the 90s, FWWM solved the mystery of the first two seasons so trying to shoe horn in a new mystery in one series was a tall task. Unfortunately, it missed the mark for me.

I would say if you like Lynch's work, then this is a no-brainer. If you are a Twin Peaks fan though, I would hold off.

I was mixed on this one. I didn't see the original for the first time until this decade, but this one was disappointing in some ways. At least it made more sense than Legion seasons 2 and 3, though.

I love this series. Watched the two original seasons and this limit series return.

Love it, but still no idea what the hell is going on.

In my humble opinion, this went off the rails without Mark Frost to temper Lynch. It's interesting to watch, but also indulgent to the point of becoming hard to watch at times. As others have said, if you're a pure Lynch fan you'll eat this up. If you're a Twin Peaks fan who loved the quirkiness of the first two seasons but also appreciated a plot that made sense to an extent, this may not be what you hope it will be. It also really lacked the return of some major characters and Cooper isn't who you want him to be for 90% of the series ... and the ending is ... not satisfying imo.
