From someone who has owned both: definitely two stereo Sonos ones for the much wider stereo separation.

The Google Home Max can get louder, but at typical indoor listening volumes the two Sonos Ones are perfect.

An added benefit is that they are smaller and blend in with decor more easily than a single giant unit like the Home Max.

I agree. The stereo separation is very good. I got a MOVE and I still prefer the stereo imaging of two ONES. SL is totally fine if you don't want a potential ease dropper either. I know... but still.

I own a bunch of these. The functionality is great... but the sound is seriously over-rated. Have you actually owned a HI-FI system or only a bluetooth speaker?! These do not even compare to really good speakers. Sure, they are better than $20 bluetooth, but they also cost 8 times as much, so they better be.

Compared to a similar priced REAL speaker, they suck. Honestly... people will be homers and defend these to the death, but they are just mediocre. If you are going into this for the functionality and are realistic, that's fine. But don't delude yourself into thinking these "sound amazing!!"

Some of us have wives or other limitations on the size and placement of speakers and associated equipment. I'm sure a couple of nice, larger bookshelf speakers hooked up to a nice amp sound better but it's just not an option for me. Thus, they sound "amazing" relative to my available choices.

Would this be a good addition to the Sonos Arc + sub?

A great addition. I just added these as rears and love it.

Weird that adorama had less taxes than Amazon did. But after the $10 gift card, it ends up being $1 cheaper than the Adorama deal. I ended up keeping the Adorama order since it had already shipped.
