There is a LG 38" (38GL950G) which technically is the previous model to the GN that is HDR400 without Edge Lightening, Only 1x HDMI, and 1x DP; however, it has the actual GSYNC Module and a cooling fan inside.
38" 21 9 curved WQHD+ (3840 X 1600) Nano IPS display
Nano IPS (DCI-P3 98%) 1ms response time
NVIDIA G-SYNC technology
144Hz/ 175Hz overclock refresh rate
VESA display HDR 400 (GL) or HDR 600 (GN)
I believe the curved rating between the LG and AW 38" are both at 2300R. As far as VESA mounting the AW 38" I don't think that's possible so that may be an issue for those using a monitor arm. The LG 38" mounted on a monitor arm is stunning.
Basically, they are the same panel and specs, it's just that the GN with the edge lightening allows it to receive its HDR600 certification vs the GL. The GL with the HDR400 is plenty bright and good enough with the picture that you won't really notice a difference, if at all. It's really the last thing to consider when comparing the two, because the GL with the HDR400 measures an output of 545 nits of brightness so brightness shouldn't be a factor for most.
You really can't go wrong with either model, the GN or GL as they are identical panel wise, just slightly different in small areas not panel related. (Edge lightening on the GN)
With that being said the AW 38" uses the GN panel so it really boils down to aesthetics of the monitor as all three of these models LG GN/GL, and AW 38" (because it uses the LG GN panel) are the cream of the crop.
AW uses only the best when it comes to monitors... LG or Samsung, top two KINGS in the business. Hands down.
Hope that helps clarify things a bit...
i made comments on youtube videos for this monitor. Some guy reached out and said he can sell me code. i was wary about it since its a random stranger but took a chance anyways, and ended up saving another $200ish. Codes are super limited
like i said this deal cant be replicated by normal means.

It's via email. Just use any temp email to sign up and you get it in 10 minutes. With the 10% discount code ($145) and CA tax the final price is $1406. Pending another r.a.k.u.t.e.n. 15% cash back ($210ish) so just about $1200 for this new released monitor. Not bad at all. Now time to compare this one to the Samsung G9.
