So I started researching Pelotons for my wife yesterday, and have major issue spending that much. Came upon this Echelon company in another SD thread. See that they have an EX3 that has no screen, and then an EX5 that has a big Peloton-size screen but that is like $1600 or something. Costco online has that EX5 for delivery and there are a fair number of negative reviews.
Someone had mentioned this EX4 in store Costco so I went to my store today and they had 6 on the floor. Nothing online I can find about it. Has a 10 inch "HD" screen so certainly smaller than an EX5, but better than EX3 which has none. I don't know the stats on flywheel but I can say that the box was surprisingly freakin heavy (says 120 pounds) so something in there must be "solid" haha.
I nabbed it just to have it, in case these start flying off the shelves once I post this haha. It says it comes with 1 yr of the app membership, which right there would be worth $480 I think. For me, much better to spend a thou and see if my wife really uses this, and can always do Peloton later or just stick with Echelon. We might find out that the 1yr app membership is hobbled in some way (like doesn't include live classes or something) but will see. I just nabbed the item and will store it till Xmas and then figure it out. If anyone else gets better info they can share. Benefit of this unit beyond the price is that I actually have it in hand, vs some vaporware delivery slot for Echelon EX5 or Peloton....

Anyone who has used the Echelon Connect Fit app can comment on the quality of the app/UI/classes?
If you want to use the Peloton app with Echelon bike she shows you how to use it with two devices at the 14:10 mark of the video.

Has a touch 10.1" Screen
Includes 1 Year United unlimited yearly plan
30lb Flywheel
SPD toe clips
Color: All blacked out with a ghosted "e"on the flywheel. IMHO looks pretty cool.
Snag one while you can!

The benefit of that bike vs an echelon bike is the full integration with Pelton classes/ other riders etc which is a real nice system and helps motivate you to ride.
The echelon is cheaper buy in but the quality is good (app is buggy), peloton digital membership is $13 month but you do not get the leaderboard metrics but still can get shout-outs.
so really depends on what you want out of the bike, IMO the echelon sport is fine for my workouts, good quiet bike ride whenever I want with peloton digital, have to deal with its quirks but it does the job I need for a ton less money.
So I guess the question is, is this a good deal vs buying a 3 elsewhere? Probably since you get the full year of app usage in this price which in itself is worth $400, plus you get a screen so don't need to (hopefully) worry about wonkiness of the bike bluetoothing to your personal ipad.

So, I have not taken any Echelon classes and I don't have my EX3 yet (ordered cyber Monday from them) but I only chose the one month subscription and planned on cancelling the subscription as soon as it was up because we plan on using the Peloton app. So, when I was evaluating, I didn't think the subscription was worth what they were charging. While it says $399 on their website, is it really worth it? I made the assumption it wasn't for me and that's really something everyone has to determine on their own. The other thing is if you don't have the subscription, then what's the worth of the monitor? I didn't think you could put the Peloton workouts on their monitor. Maybe wrong here.
Also on another note, I was able to buy the EX3 through a partnership between Echelon and my healthcare provider, BCBS of MN so if you're looking for a deal, that might be one avenue.

So how much is an EX3 bike....
EDIT - I just googled and it seems an EX3 is listed at $999 everywhere.....so that DOES make this EX4 a great value! I had in my mind that the EX3 was like $500 or something, but I believe that is the Walmart "Sport" which is a lower quality "machine" yes? So that makes me feel better....certainly no sense in paying $999 for an EX3 without a screen or without a free year of app if you can get the EX4 package for same price. I think if I could get EX3 for $500-600 then maybe makes sense to then use Peloton app for $13 a month or something
- This appears to be a deal from an Echelon Costco road show that is currently happening at many clubs across the U.S. Here is the schedule: https://www.costco.com/echelon-fi...edule.html
- Since the tablet is Android based, you can potentially sideload other apps to it.
- Sam's Club is selling this ProForm bike for $399, if you're not interested in the display and want to use the Peloton mobile app: https://www.samsclub.com/p/proform-sport-cx-stationary-exercise-bike-w-dumbbells/prod25090547?pid=_C... [samsclub.com]
I went with the Peloton because of the wide variety of content and high-quality instructors. I also have a Chase Sapphire credit. So $600 more for the EX5S vs EX4S basically and you may have to wait for 4-6 weeks to get it vs getting one in store

The bike connects through encrypted bluetooth through the app.
This (EX4S) I think is a good deal w/ 1 year sub.

Looks to me like you get the body/internals of the 3. the aero bars of the 5(no fore/aft adjustment). and small screen.
I'm also curious if the integrated screen solves the connectivity issues some have complained about.
I think this is a really good deal.
