Shark has been my go to vacuum.

No, nothing made today will.
I recently purchased this at the same price. It is okay. Be aware it is small, made of plastic, and feels cheap. Seems to vacuum okay for hard floors and for the price makes a decent second vacuum or primary for a small apartment. I would not buy this if you have significant amounts of carpet or square footage.

Haven't used the lift away.

Compared to the CU500, this is almost identical in design and function. The CU500 has a "self-cleaning" mechanism that removes hair from the brush roll as you use it, but that is not a deal breaker against this model at all because you can always clean the brush roll manually (which isn't hard to do and on these vacuums warrants cleaning once every month or two).

If you are choosing between the two, get the CU500 if they are available. Otherwise, this is almost the same. They both feel noticeably cheaper (quality of plastic it seems) than the mainline Shark Navigator models.

They look cheap too don't they? I suppose we have been used to the vacuum cleaners all looking they are on roids these days, and these are almost a plain throwback.

Having come from a Kirby to a Dyson canister, definitely. Though the cheaper look and feel do make them lighter and parts cheaper.

Depends on your needs but without any context, definitely this over Dyson. I've owned both of them at some point. Now I use the Apex as my go to.

I'm using the vacuum my grandmother bought in 1978. Will this one last 42 years?

As a pet owner, I am always a fan of powered accessories to reach the hard spots, but also have powerful vacuum power. I was impressed to see the Powered Pet Brush with this model vs. the CU500 or other Shark vacuums at this price.

What is the difference between the NV351WM2 and the NV352 that Wirecutter has listed as best vacuum for 6 years in a row?

The Shark website groups multiple model numbers all together.

Replying to myself:
"The NV351 is the same as the NV352, without the handheld motorized brush."
