Yes - mostly. Although to be fair the $299 BB version is HDR400 (mostly a marketing term) and this one is HDR600 -- which can (maybe) display/process real HDR content.

(I believe) the LG 500/550 are the lower end budget panel -- while the 600/700/800 all use the same panel. At least this is how it works with LG's 27" IPS panels. I don't know how they market-segment their 32" VA panels, but given the upgrade option for a reasonable price -- I'd probably take the 600+ panels.

As for the USB-C part of it: plenty of people (Mac owners, primarily) are willing to pay a $100-$150 premium for a clean single-cable USB-C connection for video, power delivery, and USB Hub -- it'd basically make the monitor the equivalent of a docking station.

I would actually be all over this monitor, but it seems to have a few problems related to fulfilling the above express purpose. Namely:

- The port locations are terrible. If you do intend to use it as a USB hub, you'd have unsightly wires dangling all over the back. Which isn't all that bad -- except it's a very small subsection of the population who (a) have USB-C devices and know how to use them, (b) intend to use USB-A ports in the monitor hub, (c) are willing to pay a premium for having a USB-C port/hub in a monitor, and (d) don't care about the aesthetics.

- Additionally, the USB-C implementation on this monitor might be iffy. There are reports all over the internet about the screen randomly blanking out for a few seconds when using that connection. That said, there's a chance it may be connected to the specific (cheap?) USB-C cable that's being shipped with the monitor, and all the other ports likely work just fine -- but again, if you're someone who's paying extra for the USB-C port & power delivery, you'd want to use it.

There's also the issue of LG's choice of using a wall-wart power adapter rather than putting the AC/DC electricals internally -- but we won't go into that here.

OK. That's all. I actually really want to buy this monitor myself, but given how much variability there is with monitor units these days I'm reluctant to buy anything without a very generous return policy (Costco, local BestBuy, maybe Amazon).
Confirmed VA, from the official LG site:

I'll Pass

Looks like a good deal, was about to get one but then read all the reports of Black outs in the reviews. Anyone have any experience of those with this model?
How good is Buydig's return policy, if that happens?
