Oh this is sealed. I say get the ported 15! Guys check out the demos of bass EQ. The Finding Nemo demo had some air moving and thought the A/C kicked on. Some of these you'll need to raise 10dB on the master volume see the file names and check the post for the links. https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...t-56612588 it's post #15
What's monoprice's return / warranty policy on these?
Warranty is same as new-5 years. Return shipping is covered, if item arrives defective. Many buyers have reported previously here that the open box ported ones they received were as good as new, with nothing missing/blemished. This is probably similar unless luck is so against one

I don't have this one but got the open box 12" ported and can confirm it was received good as new with no noticeable visible use.
I have to ported version of this. It is heavy. Since this is sealed it is likely SLIGHTLY lighter. This is the first real sub I have had so can't compare to HSU, Svs, etc, but is more than met my expectations in HT. Even the ported version has very tight/controlled bass. I had never heard anything like it. If I am playing music, my house is shaking (three story single family home) at -15 db. Of course, the caveat to all I am saying is that it is based on the ported version (I keep two ports open, one closed)
I'm sorry, but why would we think that (what is essentially) a computer cable and peripheral resale company would have the chops to manufacture a THX Ultra sub worth $1K? Don't get me wrong, I love Monoprice. But I can't find anything that attests to bona fides in this domain (or that indicates it's just their label on a well-known maker's product.)

Welcome your insights, thanks!

They license and rebrand other manufacturers equipment. For example, their Monoprice Monolith 7x Amplifier is manufactured by ATI, a well respected OEM. Their Monolith branded items have been getting traction in the home theater space.
