I'm sure this is a decent TV but why on earth would I buy this when I can get a Sony for the same price?
Which model?

Mixed 7.7 vs 7.0. Depending on use. Contrast & brightness differences pretty high.

Subreddit 4ktv doesn't recommend 750h really. 600 on Costco with 5 yr is really nice. https://www.costco.com/sony-65%22...55648.html

You seem to be insinuating that the TCL has much better contrast and brightness over the Sony, when in fact, it's the Sony that gets much brighter.
I know, sorry, I got lazy to type it out. Brightness higher for Sony. Contrast higher for tcl, my apologies

Contrast ratio: 7200 : 1 tcl

5726 : 1 somy

The Sony is significantly worse in quite a few metrics on RTings, doesn't support 4k60 4:4:4 subsampling, and runs Android. You'll get Roku updates for years with the TCL and the smart apps will probably work for a year before the OS lacking updates will cause issues.

The big downside to the TCL QLEDs is that they are technically 4k120 but doesn't support HDMI 2.1

I still like the 5 year warranty of the Sony. I also have a hard time buying a 5 series when a 4 series has been more than half this price.

For TCL, this is 6-series pricing on a 5 series.
