For those wondering, "The Essentials Wall Clock will have a soft click sound with the second hand."
I received mine a week ago from the last deal. It's super loud clicking away, ok for our kitchen. Surprised that it keeps accurate time, a lot of reviews say its slow or fast. Luckily ours is ok, looks great in the gold/bronze color.
For those looking for both affordable, accurate and silent (and in many cases a sweeping third hand too) - I think its hard to beat Ikea clocks. Yes most of them are pretty utilitarian looking but if you are looking at this one then I assume you don't care about pseudo snazzy appearances.

How come? I don't see the 'second' (timing context) hand. I assume it doesn't tick at all. Or the 'second' hand isn't shown in the product picture? The product details clearly say 'Features two white long metal hands', NOT three.

Your right, this must be a different model from the last deal on union and scale clocks. Appears there is no second hand to do any ticking.
Make sure you are talking about the same one w/ this one. A few clocks were on sale on Staples around Christmas, but some were w/ second hand, some were not. This one is not. So very unlikely to give you the noise.

I got the gold and white one. Agree with everyone else. It is very loud. we even tried to muffle it a little without much improvement
apparently you can buy a replacement mechanism for $10 on amazon
1. Battery powered with crystal timing so accuracy is pot luck. AC power, though maybe less convenient, gives us those super-accurate clocks many of us grew up with.
2. And why couldn't the chintzy bastards add the "atomic clock' features to keep it properly set + deal with power outages and daylight savings time???
BTW, look at the bottom of the product page for other models on similar sale.
