The game and DLC are already backwards compatible with PS4 like HUNDREDS of other titles receiving zero updating. The developer is developing additional enhancements such as including ray tracing for next gen versions.
The game is almost a year and a half old. Would it make a difference if 5 years old? People didn't complain when Dark Souls was remastered to be paying for a second time on the newer console.
I don't understand why people review bomb this game and downvote these deals because they feel they are owed an enhanced edition free of charge because a handful of companies (mostly first party) are including enhanced, PS5 versions which for "most" is nothing more than unlocking frame rates (Ghosts of Tsushima).

If they had an upgrade path for existing customers, I wouldn't be as opposed. Or if the original version had features like HDR which were fairly common by the time it came out, again it would be less of an issue. This approach is certainly their prerogative, but it's also disappointing.
For those that also happen to own an Xbox - this game is on Game Pass as of a month or so ago. Unclear at this point, if Xbox will work out a deal with the game publisher to also include the "ultimate" version, for those that have a Xbox Series X.

I have a PS5 and a PS+ subscription. I claimed this game (Control Ultimate Edition), but I don't see any option to purchase at the sale price of $19.99.
Microsoft lets you "buy to own" or gift, even if you claim it via Game Pass. Not the same with Sony?

So as long as you are a ps + member you can download and play for free (no time limit). Once you are not a plus member then you can buy the game, however I advise you to join/ renew ps plus again as you get 3 games approximately every month for free and also you can get 1 year subscription for about $30 which is a no brainer in this case, instead of buying one game for $20.
