Also, please use slightly less water when making curry. It becomes less waterly and much richer. Japanese use milk, bulldog sauce, chocolate, grated apple, soy sauce,
instant coffee etc as secret recipes. We use grated apple. We always make it the night before. Much more tasteful the next day due to some kind of chemical reaction that happens overnight.
and yes the whole msg thing is mostly psychological, its in everything else people who complain about it eat.

I leave out the mushrooms. Use a full box of the curry. I also have used applesauce instead of a graded apple. No need to use honey

On a side note, doesn't seem like that great a price. I usually find the bigger packs for about the same price at most asian groceries in my area. And Java>{Torokeru,Kokumaro,Vermont}>Golden
