The X570 of course will have the chipset fan and more PCIE 4.0 due to the nature of the higher end chipset. If you're not planning on using multiple Gen4 M.2 SSDs or overclocking then I'd just go with whatever is cheaper

2nd NVME2 will make GPU x8 instead of x16

If you willing to attach 2+ NVME2, go with X570.

This board has a much better VRM. In fact, it's the same monstrous, true 16 phase found on the X570 Aorus Xtreme. However, it has a useless, auto-switching dual bios which is a pain in the butt. It's better to disable dual bios and run it in single bios mode. It memory overclocks like a champ but because of the bios stupidity, it can be a pain to troubleshoot a failed overclock in dual bios mode. All this being said, if you don't know the differences between the tomahawk and this, you probably shouldn't waste money on either and instead go for an MSRP $160 to $180 B550 board from Gigabyte or MSI.

The Strix gaming b550 is $190 at best buy, and mine has one in stock, not sure about everywhere else though.

I'm not saying this isn't a deal, for this particular board it might be. Heck with this shortage maybe the fact that it's only $20 off msrp is secondary to the fact that it's even in stock at all. But FFS $270 for a mainstream mid-tier chipset mobo seems insane to me. The same chipset can be had for under $100, so it's like buying the Denali/Platinum/insert favorite overpriced trim level here. You're paying 2-3 times as much for the options and add ons, be sure you want them.

Reason you'd buy this:
  1. You plan on overclocking with a Ryzen 3900x / 5900x or higher.
  2. Your PC case does not have a front USB-C port. None of Gigabyte's B550 boards have an internal USB-C header.
  3. You plan on watercooling. The metal backplate helps with passive thermal transfer and gives extra rigidity for watercooling components.
Also, motherboards with a metal back plate are heavy! Don't be surprised when it feels like a slab of steel.

X570 power draw running multiple nvme is like 35 watts...

Nice to see a sale on high end mobo +1 op!
