Newbie to hiking and trails. Are these shoes waterproof? I'm looking for shoes that can withstand puddles and not make my feet wet. Appreciate the help!

These are not waterproof. They're meant to be super light and breathable so that your feet stay dry from sweat and dry out quickly after puddles. (Kind of the way hiking and trail running is going).

I have several pairs and these shoes are great. True to size and no blister issues! However you need to make sure you are using the correct socks I recommend DryMax https://www.drymaxsports.com/

Great hiking / backpacking / trail running shoes. Very good price. Current sale price on the Altra website is $84. In February they will be coming out with an updated version. Also, with limited women's sizes for this deal you could get a men's 1.5 smaller. Women's width is B and men's is D. I don't know how much of a difference that makes for those interested. These shoes are not waterproof. That being said, I've worn them during 10 mile hikes through the rain. My feet get wet, but with proper socks my feet are in great shape at the end of the hike. The shoes dry very quickly, so by the next day they are dry.
