great shoes, midsole goes flat a bit after 100 miles but overall a great shoe with great breathability, drainage
***this is a zero drop shoe, if you're unfamiliar with zero drop, please do your research, you can injure yourself real quick if you aren't used to running/hiking in zero drop shoes.***
Last time they were on sale I didn't buy them because this review mentions the high heel cup that causes blisters. Anyone having that problem? https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/re...e-peak-4-5
I never had any blisters (I have probably 1k miles on the LP 4.5) but also the heels on a couple pairs of my Darn Tough socks have all but worn through. If you get the right socks you'll be a-ok and can run/hike without shame
Vapor gloves are my everyday/around town shoes, but the Lone Peak is my hiking/trail running shoe. I'm very minimalist and if I could go back again, I'd probably buy the Altra that's one notch less padded than these (name escapes me). But these are far from being too cushy on rocky terrain. A happy medium.
Superiors probably? The uppers on superiors varied so much revision to revision but the 3.5/4 revision was basically a lighter lone peak IMO.
The latest superior (4.5) has some weird plasticy upper and the tongue is only open on one side ... haven't tried yet
Also... for rocky terrain I tend to use a superfeet green in all my altras with some gorilla tape under on the forefoot to act as a rock plate (instead of the provided rock plates). Works well for me.
Honestly don't really notice a difference on superiors and lone peaks, both are interchangeable to me.
Can't speak for the 4.5, but I went through three pairs of Lone Peak 3.5 and was very happy. One pair lasted for 950 mountain miles! Currently 200 miles into my 4.0 pair with no issues. Hiking friends mentioned the lifespan of the 4.5 is half that of the 3.5 due to lower quality, which is a shame. At $60, the price is reasonable. Hopefully the next generation improves quality.
Sad, ordered these when they had more colors last month but somebody stole the package off my doorstep or was mis-delivered by USPS. JackRabbit promptly issued a refund after 7 days of waiting. I have the lone peak 4s. They're amazing. Hiked the narrows with them.

Shitty ultrarunner and adventure racer here. Absolutely love these shoes and Altras.
Have been singing their praises for the last like 4-5 years. Have 2 pairs of Lone Peak 4.5s already, grabbing a 3rd!
