Shuckable. Done a few. They are SMR. Fine for archiving but really slow for using for running any type of app or game.
Hard drives have a bathtub shaped failure curve ... lots of them fail in the first year or so, then they tend to work reliably for a few years, and then starting at about year 4 the failure rate starts to go up again. At the end of year 4, 20% of drives will have failed (this is based on data from BackBlaze). The moral of the story? All hard drives eventually fail. The differences in reliability between WD and Seagate are small enough that the typical consumer probably wont notice them. Use RAID 1, 5, or 6, DrivePool, or something similar and some form of cloud backup, at minimum.

According to one of the Newegg reviews, it's a Barracuda ST8000DM004 drive (8TB, 5400 RPM, 256MB cache) --> LINK [newegg.com]

Of course it works. It's not the super fast storage, but of course it works.

PS5 won't have expandable memory for at least another year from what I've seen

You can't play ps5 games from it only ps4. But you can store ps5 games on it. You'd just have to transfer when you want to play them.

I think these are usually Seagate Compute SMR drives. Fine for long term storage, but not ideal for usage in a NAS since they'll slow down and/or drop out during a RAID rebuild. For most general desktop work, they'll work fine and give the appearance of being fast due to cleaver caching and firmware.
