Some notes on the service:
- Speeds 20-140 mbps download, 5-30 mbps upload depending on your location, time of day, phase of the moon, usage on the network
- Sometimes the service completely drops out, at least once a day, and my video meetings stop working for 30-120 seconds.
- Not great for gaming due to latency.
- You don't have to pay for the box but you will be charged $350+ if you don't return it in good condition at the end of your service.
- The box forgets its wifi settings when it loses power.
- It has a battery but the transition from outlet to battery power instigates a reboot of the box.
- WiFi on the box is not ideal - connect your own access point via the ethernet ports.
- The box does NAT + DHCP. You cannot bypass this.
- May require a hard credit pull.

I *hate* Comcast/Xfinity SO F'IN MUCH that I gave up my Sprint plan and went to another carrier (which means I forfeited $170 in monthly credits for my Apple Watch AND the world's best/cheapest 'unlimited' plan -- just $25/mo!! ANYTHING to get out of Xfinity's criminal enterprise. But even THAT wasn't good enough--I have to wait 90 days after dropping sprint before I can sign up with T-mobile. It's the most asinine BS one could think up. I've spent hours on the phone w / T-mobile and Sprint... even sent a certified letter to T-mobile CS in hopes of getting somewhere. Crickets. Nary a cursory 'We're sorry to have inconvenienced you' email. I'm still singing up when I can though because Xfinity has a special place reserved in hell.....oh. Did I mention I really hate Xfinity?
But, if any T-moble employees can help make sense of this BS, Id be most indebted. THANK YOU
The next day a got a call from Tmobile, and they asked me if i would like to try out their unlimited internet. I did order the service and now see it in my existing tmobile (mobile) account as ordered and equipment on the way.
Im currently on cox internet and if i get decent speed from tmobile internet, i will switch, as i've been unhappy with cox service with intermittent speed at almost double the cost and for some reason there's an outage here in our area at least once a month
I checked, they called, I ordered. Going to check it out first before I cancel Cox service. Currently have 15 mbps for 60 bucks on Cox.
tl;dr: Spectrum sucks in areas where they have a monopoly.
I can add services online but to cancel? 1hr and 4min on hold to get to a person in the only dept that allows you to cancel. Then they tried to everything... oh, except lowering my cost.
"Hey! How about a year free of this other service you will never use?!? No? How about I pester you about why you're cancelling? oops! that was a bad move!"
I then proceeded to calmly tell him how the service is great when it works, but when it doesn't their repair service sucks to high heaven... then I pulled up my Spectrum notes on the computer and went through 3yrs of service issues.
I'm sure he hopes to never speak to me again but he was kind enough to offer me a $20 credit for 2mo, although the way he worded it was "credit you for 2 months." Sounds like 2mo free, right? Yeah, I've had Spectrum too long, I know their dirty tricks. I asked "that's 2 free months, correct?" to which SadVoiceMan responded "no, but I can credit you with $20 for 2mo"
I politely declined, while in my head I was saying "F these Fing Fers". I was seriously willing to go a month without home internet (keep in mind I did not have cellular service when I canceled LOL haven't had for approx 7yrs)
THAT is how through I was/am with Spectrum. I was willing to manually turn on/off lights and kettle and heater etc (no smarthome without internet, although some things work on the internal network), have no streaming, no gaming, no messaging, no texting, no calls, no looking up every little thing I want to know about just so I didn't have to deal with Spectrum for a month. Spectrum was a huge source of stress so cutting them off was well worth it.
Mint Mobile saved me from the Amish life (ok, I'm being a bit dramatic) so I have internet access during my Spectrum revolt. Currently using their SIM in the T-Mobile hotspot and will use it as my backup when I get Spectrum again so I'm not without internet whenever their service goes out and in the future I'll let my company deal with Spectrum outages.
I'll eventually have to sign back up (I work from home) but I'll be a new customer and allegedly get the new customer rate for a year, though I'm sure they'll raise it in a month because that's what they do to customers in their monopoly areas

- Everyone won't be eligible for the low income Xfinity plan
- Everyone isn't lucky enough to have multiple ISPs available

No Data Caps is key for me as I constantly hit Comcast's data caps.
With doing work/school online in the family and with content like HBO Max not being able to throttle down resolution (on non Phone/Tablet devices) and using up 4GB per hour, I hit the data caps limit easily.
My area is on the edge of 5G signal, so will probably end up with 4G LTE speeds at 30-40Mbps
Anyone complaining about speeds isn't their target audience (yet). Where I live my option is...nothing for now. Not even DSL. This for $50 is a blessing. We get a steady ~120 down / 20 up and haven't ever been throttled. We've been using 2-3 TB a month with everyone working at home and the kids doing more gaming to be around their friends.
If you're unsure about the performance T-Mobile also does the test drive where they'll send a hotspot with 30 gb of data (all you have to provide is a shipping address) so you can get an idea of what you can expect.
From my quick research, T-Mobile is shipping new devices that are 5G capable, so they are not enabled yet... Also to mention, the new devices they are shipping will not allow you to change any settings except for wifi name/password...
Now have T-Mobile 50+ mb/s for $50
The xfility service has less latency and more jitter. The t-mobile is at least 2x faster down and 4x faster up. Very pleased. Have the 5G router (round and grey) - if/when 5G arrives at my address - winning.
Also, only have 2-3 bars on the signal meter (I forget the actual numbers at the moment) - se we are far from the tower.
I ordered mine on Jan 11 and received on Jan 14. it's 5G. You can call in and ask for replacement from 4G white square vox to 5G grey cylinder box.
i think the 5g box allows very little customization though and isn't good for xbox without a vpn or something?
I had the white box service for a couple months and played destiny xbox fine on it, though the Xbox did say moderate nat, since it worked I didnt care to investigate.
Overall pretty much loved the service and think its the future. But for me the cable company agreed to undercut them with 400 mbps for 49.50 so I switched back to Suddenlink. Which is a garbage company btw. you can get all these good deals but only if you're a new customer, people like me who have been on them 20 yrs, too bad, you'll pay 100-120 if you're lucky. If I wasnt on gamepass I probably wouldn't even need 400 mbps.
With Tmobile, I averaged like 40-60 mbps with 2.4 ghz and went up to 70-90 with 5ghz. 5ghz actually made a difference. I had 2 bars most places in my house, in the back room I could get 3 bars, so not great signal.
One underrated thing I love about it is you get one all in one box with one power cord. With cable, I have a modem (chained to one of the 3 coax outlets in my house, so limited positioning) with nasty old fashioned coax cable+power, a router with ethernet+power+more ethernet if you hardwire it to anything. So much less clutter and ease of positioning with the Tmo setup.
I read somewhere you get deprioritized after 50 gigs though. I'm sure it's overblown by SD types and not actually that big a deal though. I didn't really notice (though I guess to be fair I didn't know)
Tmo would be a godsend if I had crappy DSL or satellite for sure, and it's really nice to at least finally have a 2nd option at my place. As I said, I believe 4g home internet is the future for sure.
Forgot to talk about the bill, flat 50 all fees included. Contrast to suddenlink, where literally no two of their sleezy bills are ever the same (102 one month, then 108 then 103 etc etc etc). Stop and think about why they do that. So they can slowly increase your bill because it's normalized to be a different amount each month. So yeah, if they have a monopoly on you suddenlink is scum! Another thing they do is your bill is made up of at least 3 line items. Like for example, "internet 400", "internet access fee", and "special discount". By manipulating any one of those 3 they can make your bill whatever they want at any time. For example if they promise you "internet 400" for 55 bucks a month forever, well just later on they raise the "internet access fee". It's pathetic.

What's the best way to get an address that's in their service area if you don't know anyone that's in their home internet service area. I'm not sure I want to start putting random addresses in.
