Searched and didn't see anything recent this cheap on Switch. May need to redeem in the e-shop on the Switch itself.

The NES versions of Contra and Super Contra are better than the arcade versions in terms of control and music IMO. Contra III for the SNES improves upon the original with the ability to hold your positions when shooting at different angles, ability to carry and switch between two weapons and a slew of other features. It's harder than the first two games and doesn't have extra lives code but it's beatable and fun. You can farm for extra lives during the last boss fight and you'll definitely need the extra lives. You can find the extra lives code all over the internet, especially the first NES Contra game so look it up. Great couch co op collection.
The first Castlevania game and Castlevania III are one of those infamous hard as nail retro classic. Castlevania II and Super Castlevania are more easier and deviates from the original formula. All are fun in their own ways IMO and they all have great music that's worth playing just to hear them. YouTube Castlevania music and you'll find tons of cover, remixes and stuff.
The Arcade Classics Collection is tougher to recommend unless you like airplane/spaceship shooters aka SHMUP (short for shoot-em-up) genre, and or you like to torture yourself a bit. Salamander and maybe Twin Bee could be an exception since they're easier than the rest of the games in this collection IMO. I think you can use the infamous Contra extra lives code for Salamander as well. At $5 I recommend it just for Salamander and Vulcan Venture alone if you're remotely interested in SHMUP genre. Salamander and Twin Bee has local co op.
Bro, don't do us like that, you know we ain't got friends to play with.
