In the interest of not misleading anyone, I'm updating the title, product and the store. The original post is at the bottom. Note the first few comments were with regard to that model only.

There is now a newer model, available for pre-order on B&H for $900 (free shipping):

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...9YQAvD_BwE

The newer one seems brighter (3200 vs 2200), has a low input lag of 5 ms, and high refresh rate of 240Hz (under 1080p) so it should be good for gamers. Now it is believed 701 has RGBW color wheel while the 728 has RGBRGB (so more accurate color but less bright).

This was my original post:

I wish I didn't get a used Epson (2150) just a couple of days ago. Even a decent entry level 4K projector new would still be worth the extra $400 I would have had to pay over an excellent 1080p one which 2150 is.

https://www.adorama.com/vspx7274k...=adl-gbase

At that price, it's obviously a pixel shifted 4K (or really UHD) projector. Have to make this disclaimer so people don't come in with their real 4k vs faux 4k and UHD vs 4K arguments ;-).

P.S.: this is currently on back order so don't buy it if your Super Bowl party depends on it ;-).

UPDATE: I now do not recommend this projector unless you get a price. Please see below discussions about the newer models.

Dang that's disappointing. I assume you have the UDH50x?

How would the colors compare to the Epson Home Cinema 1060 that's on close out for refurbished ($399)?

Did you try gaming at 1080p instead of 4k? I saw a video that said the 240hz is only at 1080p not 4k.
Yes I had the UHD50X but i returned it because there is an issue with split screen where one side is darker than the other. The picture on the UHD50X is night and day compared to the 701-4k. Colors were vibrant and they popped. The color accuracy wasnt the best but at least it was colorful, the only way to describe the 701 was dull and actually a bit blurry. I didnt game in 4k but i can tell you that its not at 240 hertz. The projector is HDMI 2.0 so the highest hertz you will get is 60hz at 4k. When projectors start adopting HDMI 2.1 theoretically there will be 4k 120hz.

Thanks for the quick review. As I said earlier, I bought X10-4KE for its short throw (I need something that's either short or long throw for my basement). I notice the same color issue that you did, though if I play HDR content, it would look better/brighter, but still quite saturated, especially red, and to a lesser extent, green. So yes, it's possible to get good viewing experience, but you will have to play with settings, hardware, etc.

I hooked Apple TV 4K to the projector. The Apple TV auto-sets its resolution to 4K HDR 60Hz for the projector and it doesn't look good at all, even for 4K HDR content from Youtube. Strangely, both my LG and Sony 4K Ultra HDR players do better, perhaps it may have something with do with the 24 Hz (Apple TV doesn't have that), or my Internet connection. In the end, I have to set it to 1080p SDR for the box.

So my overall impression is that this (probably along with other entry-level Viewsonic 4K projectors) is good as a basic and inexpensive 4K projector. If you care a lot about color accuracy, projector placement (very limited or no zoom, optically or digitally, no horizontal keystone, no lens shift) etc, you should probably look elsewhere. I don't play game so I have nothing to say there.

I'll keep mine, because it fits my needs for a) having some 4K/HDR projector, b) having a portable projector. I will be on a fairly long vacation soon so this comes in handy, c) with its short throw and portability, I actually often use it to project to my bedroom ceiling (I have a bad back so I have to lay in bed more than average).
I also need a shorter throw distance for my theater room. Maybe ill take a look at that model as well.

Just ordered one from Amazon last night. Scheduled delivery tomorrow. They are releasing couple at a time with delivery in couple of days.
Quote from ShekarC1354 :
I got this delivered yesterday. First opinion. It is small and great piece. 4k Picture quality is awesome.

4k content is awesome on screen
Colors are great
Colors are not faded in high lumens like 747
Bright and clear
Blacks are fine.
Keystone setting are good. It did not effect picture.
No rainbow effect after 2 hrs watching. 747 suffered on this.

I am not a gamer. So I cannot talk about the refresh rate 240hz.5ms. lag etc.

I had 1080p and recently I have been feeling lost when 4k content pop-up on Netflix and Prime. After seeing quality on the screen with this projector, I felt it is really worth spending extra 400$ compared to Epson 3ccd 1080p.

HDR is good. It right away picked up HDR content. Make sure you have 4k AV receiver with Firestick 4k which can deliver 4k content. Also supported HDMI cables. My old cables were not delivering proper output when I first installed this projector. I was upset with quality on the scree. I barrowed my friend cables ,4k stick and I was blown away by the quality.

If you are having just 1080p content and long way for 4k then stay with Epson model. 1080p did not look that great on this projector.

Finally HDR, 4k , Easy of use, 3200 lumens, Prize , Size, quality , I am impressed.

if you are gamer and existing 4k projector owner then better you consider some expert opinion on this.
I do not use 3d content much and I did not see any 4k projector which can offer 3d under 900. Also many mentioned in other forums that this is 3d capable but Viewsonic is disabling to push higher end model for marketing purposes.
What screen size and throw distance have you both set it up?

Mine is 120 with 13 feet distance. It is not short and through. I could go up to 150 but with 13 feet available distance , I can only get 120.

Thanks. I have 15 ft distance. To get 120-150 inches screen size, should I need to adjust any settings in the projector or it just comes automatically?
I just got mine last night and this is my first projector.

Can anyone recommend a good short-throw projector for movies that has both vertical and horizontal keystone correction. Budget is $500. 1080p is fine, as is refurb.

Going to wait to see the reviews on this one. Unfortunately has one of the worst video compared to the other 4K projectors. Perhaps they corrected all the issues in this one.The Bluetooth issue is no problem because you can use your streaming device to connect to your Bluetooth receiver or speaker

What do you guys think about this newer model he updated the listing with (px701-4k) vs the benq X1300i?
I would love to save the 400$ price difference.
Would be used in a room that is either bright or dark. (but dark is my favorite use).
I really appreciate anyone with insight into this question. I've tried to research all night but I am just not knowledgeable in projectors much.

I have this projector downstairs in my basement, completely light controlled room. Picture looks really nice on my120" spandex projector screen i built.I have it connected to my older receiver using an audio extractor, so i can take advantage of the 4k. So far so good, no complaints.
