LG 75" Class (74.5" Diag.) - UN8570 Series - 4K UHD LED LCD TV

$899 from 1/17 - 2/7

Budget tv with current gen gaming console hdmi 2.1 goodness...
and "real" 120hz native refresh.

Rtings dropped the ball on the value of this tv, for its size and gaming input lag, and resolutions supported + price point.

even the 65" @ $629 was enticing me, plus the 82" and 86" are regularly discounted, but glad I waited for the 75". For gaming I love this size now on my Sony 850E and xbox one x / ps4 pro.

Now I'll be ready for the series X, ps4 pro, gaming video cards, etc with 120hz input @ 4k displayed natively whenever I get the source content.

And a reputable brand (been scared to buy a vizio M/P/PQ...) . Plus Costco warranty/return policy...for gaming/ganers, its like this tv was built with that in mind 1st and foremost.

Theres debate if VRR is supported but if not it likely will be. Still a badass 120hz @ 4k / 1440p / 1080p capable tv @ 75" for $899 is hard to beat...

FYI firmware notes mention freesync support
and RTX 30xx improvements:

Its cheap which is the pro and has 120hz via hdmi 2.1. The cons are a lot however. No FALD, dim screen with low peak brightness, bad contrast, fake HDR, cant display 4k properly, no wide color gamut, cant display blacks and will have a cloudy screen whenever you try to watch any dark scenes.
Tempting AF but the wife would kill me and all. Who needs a wife

Just go to Costco and see the damn thing next to the others. It looks pretty impressive in the bright warehouse, so that should answer any questions regarding glare in bright rooms. I just feel this will get in to .97 price. If/when it does, I hope I can scoop it up
Make sure you have Costco turn the lights down low so you can see the MASSIVE bleed at the edges and the gray black screen

Bought this when it was $850 and using it with a ps5. Really like it. We have a large room with windows that nearly fill the wall perpendicular to the tv. The tv can overcome the glare but it obviously looks better with the blinds drawn.

How far back do you sit from the tv?

Is there a big difference between this and the current promo at Costco on the nano 91 65 inch for $950? As much as I'd like a bigger screen i mostly watch darker sci fi movies and planning on using the tv for PC gaming so I'd take picture quality over size. My budget is under $1k otherwise the OLED offerings would be the obvious choice.

We have an L shaped couch in this room and the tv is about 7 feet away from the closest point and 14 feet away at the farthest point. We also have the tv sitting about 5'-2" above the fireplace.

This is my situation and I don't even have an IPS panel.... works terrific in the dark too..... Maybe because it's new? In any case, from my recent purchase/experience, I wouldn't buy an ISP unless I had skylights in the same room, was using it as a PC monitor for more than 30% of the time or I worked 3rd shift.

Between the Nano90/91 and the un8500, the Nano90/91 (size aside) is a much better choice. Other than having the 5 yr warranty and $100 Hulu eGift included, the Nano 90/91 offers: more brightness, local dimming, much better reflection handling, a wide color gamut, better motion handling, and VRR support.

I have the 75un8570 and it is too reflective in my bright living room. My 6 years old samsung handles reflection better.

I decided to pull the trigger after botching things hard during Black Friday. I bought the 65" 75" and the 86" versions of this set last week.

The 86" is mounted in a 14x14 dedicated theatre room with no ambient light source, black painted walls, black painted ceiling, black painted door etc.

*I am not a tech expert/wizard*

My first impressions...

I'm thoroughly impressed with the overall quality/design of the TV. While the bezel is thicker than competitors and isn't as "aesthetically pleasing"...it doesn't detract from the overall design.

The picture is great...no issues at all watching a variety of content from Amazon/Netflix/Hulu etc. Obviously if all the content was in 4K it would be relatively flawless but digital streaming services just aren't there yet. While watching 13 hours some of the explosions, during the Ambassador's failed extraction scene, were definitely not as sharp as I would have liked but so far that's the only time I've noticed a less than perfect picture. I was also watching in HD...not 4K.

At the end of the day, if you are looking for a massive 86" television, I don't think you'll regret going with this LG. Worst case you hate it and end up taking it back to Costco. I rolled the dice and I'm very pleased.

Yes...built a new house and needed 3 TVs to replace old ones. Costco pricing was in line with what I wanted to spend so I bought all of them at once.
