Link for reference only. B&M only, Autozone web guys couldn't find it when I called but it was sitting on the shelf at the local store. Appears to be their regular price, not sure why they're $100 cheaper than any other seller. Maybe even cheaper with a coupon.

Boss Audio BE10ACP Digital Multimedia Receiver with (wired) Android Auto and CarPlay, 10.1" capacitive touchscreen, rear and front camera inputs, USB charging, removable and adjustable screen, external mic, etc.

Yeah, I know, Boss audio isn't known for high quality but for $250 out the door at your local Autozone, you're getting a LOT of bang for not much buck. I looked around and the closest big name that compares feature to feature is an Alpine unit that is $999. I've had it in my car for a few days and I'm very happy with it. So much so that I bought a second one for my wife's car. When I bought the second one, I mentioned that I was trying to buy it online as there was a discount available but it shows as in store only. The guy at the store gave me a 10% discount. YMMV.
Waiting on the install kit to be delivered so I can install hers. Single DIN so if you have double din like our cars, you'll need a kit with some kind of space filler. Crutchfield said it doesn't "fit" my car as but it went in using the same single DIN kit I got from them for the JVC (No screen or carplay and the Bluetooth was going out) I replaced with this one.
Crutchfield, Amazon, etc. all have this unit for $329. Good reviews at that price. For $100 less than that I imagine the reviews would be even better.
Unit comes with 3 year warranty from Boss. Autozone also gives a 1 year in store repair/replacement warranty with this unit. Details on your receipt.

Doubt that they're going to have the newest version sitting on the dusty shelves of Autozone LOL. Maybe in a couple of months time. They'll probably correct the price by then though.

None of my Autozones even have it on the shelf so figured it was new to them too. I picked up another and it is the original version. Mine works great so far. Wish there was a way to turn off that stupid banner they include with grid lines. For those complaining about the brightness, make sure you are using dark mode on your phone e. Also, if you have an older phone, consider upgrading to something that has a newer version of Android. As of a couple updates ago, my phone went from eating battery when plugged into a 1.5 amp charge while using AA to at least slowly charging/maintaining charge.

I finally got mine installed and running. I haven't done a lot of night driving yet, but agree that I don't see any difference with the headlights on. I had to program my aswc-1 for my 2009 pontiac vibe. My mode button on the steering wheel doesn't work still, so I may try to reprogram when it's not 20F out. I ended up having to purchase a second one from Amazon as my first didn't work. Amazon chat wasn't convinced that I installed it right, but the second one powered right up (the first never displayed any LEDs and wasn't powering) I'll recommend posi-taps as they made my job a lot easier to connect the steering wheel control wires to the vehicle harness. Overall, I feel that for ~$230 there is a lot of value in the head unit and was a perfect addition to an older vehicle.

No problem, just mentioning that one which costs about half works too. Didn't have to do anything with it, the vol+/-, channel/skip forward/back, and mode that are on the steering wheel work as they should. The ASWC-1 has some programming capabilities too, but looks like it may be a bit of a PITA when I was looking at the directions. Think you have to program all the buttons even if you just want to reprogram one. For example, I may re-assign the mode button to listen instead (for hands free commands) since I rarely ever switch sources.
There was no way I was going to be happy with the default programming. All the voice button did was mute and I'm used to the answer button bringing up the phone menu as well as answering, not just answering a call. That's all sorted now. Programming all the buttons every time is a pain, but I just make a list of my button presses and it's not so terrible. I've got to figure out a way to make the screen a bit less shaky on bumps and if I can make that backup camera banner go away (while still allowing grid lines), I'll be very happy.

For anyone on the fence, this blows away every resistive screen HU I've ever used. For the average user, it sounds fine. Having that nice, big, bright, responsive screen for maps is friggin awesome!!

Didn't have bluetooth from the from the factory so I technically I don't have an answer button, but it would be nice to have the ability to program the buttons so they could be multifunction like I could with my old head unit. Not sure if you can do that sort of thing with these add-on interfaces. I believe those guidance lines are defeatable in the settings. Are you sure that the lines you're seeing aren't built into the camera itself? Oh, and as far as the screen shake, are you sure that you have it snapped in all the way? Upon my 3rd time installing and removing the unit I noticed that it didn't go all the way in even though I felt it snap (think it snaps twice into position). I believe the screen cable might've been getting caught up some how so I slowly worked it in as I slid the screen in the last time I messed with it. The screen shaking seems a little strange because I have an aftermarket stiff suspension along with polyurethane bushings all around but notice very little shake.

Anyone know if the head unit automatically mirrors the screen left/right for backup camera? I got a camera that works in backup position only (mirrored only), but it shows as not mirrored (driver's side objects are on passenger's) on my screen. I'm wondering if the camera has a problem, or if it's being mirrored twice (once by the camera and again by the head unit). Thanks!

I'll have to check the settings, but I don't believe there's a one for mirror imaging the backup camera. My camera works fine with it as it did with my last headunit (didn't have to touch anything, just plug it in). Technically the backup camera should be "mirrored" for things on the right side of the screen to be on your actual right (should look exactly the same on your screen as it does in your rear view mirror) so maybe your camera isn't mirroring like it's supposed to. So I really don't know if the "mirroring" function is built into the cameras typically or it's built into the headunit; someone else may have to chime in on that one. If you need to replace it, backup cameras cam be pretty cheap this days. I got this one [ebay.com] back in 2019 and it's still going strong and looks good on this screen (colors are a little washed out but that's typical with most backup cams). Most importantly though it's a nice clear image and it has lasted a good while now - most cheaper backup cameras seem to die after a year.

Found another fly in the ointment. Think I finally found out yesterday that we do need to do something with the light green parking brake wire other than connecting it to ground. That trick works with most headunits, but some need one of those mini switching relays (believe they switch on and off, then on again automatically to fool it so you don't have to engage the parking brake). Anyway, I went to enter a destination into waze (other than my saved ones) and it wouldn't let me type something in for safety reasons even though I was parked (you would think that the app would be smart enough to detect if the vehicle was moving or not). This was actually the first time I tried to enter a destination like that since I've had this since I've only been going to and from work for the last several weeks. Anyone else encounter this?

Update: I found the mirror screen setting— it's "Backup Cam view" in the camera settings. There also seems to be one to mirror front camera.

Regarding the parking brake signal, I grounded and it seems to work fine for the usb media. I haven't noticed any parking brake integration in Apple CarPlay.

Yup, I just checked and that's what that option does, un-mirrors the camera. And I also just checked the google maps and it's the same crap, only lets you enter addresses via voice input for safety reasons. Yeah, kind of dumb it lets you watch videos from the flash drive though. Guess I'm on the hunt for a relay now. Guess I'll be taking the dash apart yet again. Lost track of how many times now.

My car is a beater with over 230K miles. It's not the smoothest ride, but the vibration isn't terrible. I just think I can make it better. Most manufacturers have come out with similar 10" screen HUs, but they use a dual-arm system. I'm going to wedge some foam from the packing material and see what that does. My guidelines aren't built into the camera. I can turn them off and get rid of that warning, but I want guidelines. I just don't want that warning blocking so much of the screen. They used a solid background for the text. It's so stupid. Make the text smaller and get rid of the solid background (like my JVC) and it would be fine.

I read what you said in that post I quoted but thought you must've meant guide lines because I don't have any sort of "banner" with a warning on my backup camera screen. Nothing at all but the built in guidelines on my backup camera. I even tried enabling EULA in the settings (boot up warning) just in case it had something to do with the boot up warning but that's not it either. I only have the first option checked in the camera settings too but that shouldn't have anything to do with it either. What does it say, something like check your surroundings first kind of warning? Maybe it's built into your camera itself. I'm stumped. And recheck your display once again. My suspicions were right; it does have two pairs of click and lock holes on the stem for the display. It needs to go all the way in for it to be solid. Like I said, the one time it didn't want to go all the way in (didn't notice until I was driving down the road and it was vibrating a little) and believe it was caught up on the faceplate wire. So in other words, don't force it in because you might pinch the cable. Maybe pull it back out and try to angle and aim the wire so it goes into the head unit. Can't emphasize what a horrible design that is. Should be a bunch of smooth contacts like there was for years and years on removable faceplates all through the 90s well into the 2000s. Maybe somebody else could chime in on what you're seeing on the backup cam though because I have nothing there.

LOL, sorry for doubting you - mine does this too with the guidelines enabled (just tested it this morning). Why it would show that message with the guidelines up and not without is a mystery. Thought I tried the backup camera with the guidelines up but didn't remember that big yellow banner. Must be going senile. There's a lot of settings in this head unit (or lack there of) which seem strange. Boss certainly skimped on the firmware. Personally I don't really use the guidelines (a little useful the first few times you use them, but once you know where the rear bumper of the vehicle is exactly, then they're useless). But I only use a backup camera as an aid for proximity and don't use it for "backing up" like most people do.

The Boss does have CarPlay but why I ended up NOT going with it (or the Kenwoods, Alpines, etc) is because you have to plug in your phone via USB anytime you want CarPlay. I didn't love the idea of having that cable hanging around.

The other thing too is future apps. To be honest, I only really care about music, maps and maybe a couple of other things, but in the case that I need something else, the Android ones can handle it. With these, you don't really know how much RAM is in there, so that concerned me.

One thing you might want to know is if you buy the unit from BestBuy, they have free installation. It someone cancels out the deal but saves you on installation - if you can't do it yourself. Of course, who knows - they might try to charge some other things but when I was shopping, they said their free installation promo covers it.

Boss isn't junk but it's just budget. It's hard to say what that means these days, though. Kenwood, Alpine, etc. are supposedly better for sound but how much do you trust them handling software? The difference is - from what I understand - in the support as they apparently have excellent customer service and excellent support. I'm sure you'll do fine. Honestly, at $229 for a 10-inch screen to bring your interior/stereo into the modern era, it's a great deal.
Not exactly sure but I assumed Android/CarPlay just had basic firmwares, and RAM doesn't matter since it's essentially just being a monitor for your phone.

I meant to post back here again a couple of weeks ago because I turned turned on my AC for the first time this year and encountered the dreaded screen vibration. Bad news is that wedging something on the sides of that mounting block for the screen arm doesn't do much at all because the arm itself or the pivot point isn't what's moving from what I can tell. Seems to be the front plate of the head unit itself that has a slight flex to it. Stiffening that up would be a chore but found a solution in my particular scenario. I have an '08 civic with the Scoche dash kit (it's angled forward slightly since that whole area is pitched back a bit). Had it configured so I had a map pocket underneath the display so if I slide the display as low as it will go then the rear sides of the display wedge against the dash. Stiffens things up nicely but the only drawback is that I completely lose that map pocket.
