ASUS ROG STRIX G17 (G713QR-ES96) 17.3" 300Hz (3ms) Full HD IPS-Level Gaming Laptop w / RTX 3070 Max Performance (AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX)

Available for Pre-Order, I was able to place an order with them for this computer. (Not grayed out).

They also have available customization such as adding additional NVME drives or setting up 2 drives in RAID. I added a second 1TB NVME drive for an additional $100. I was going to add it myself anyway, for $100 and they do it saves me the hassle of taking apart the computer, price is decent.

I believe they also appear to have the AMD5800U + 3060 combo also for preorder for $1499 - you just have to click the configuration buttons on the link page and it will come up.

Lack of QHD at this price point is a bit disappointing.

Wow!!!! This is a steal!!! Latest Ryzen, which you can't get anythin Good luck building a PC equivalent at this price, or even finding a 30-series GPU. And it has the latest Ryzen CPUs which are basically unicorns at this point, 1TB m.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD.. I mean, this is thing is pretty awesome. The memory can easily be upgraded from 16Gb, if it's even an issue at all anyway.

Yea, it appears you can add more memory if you order, they will install it prior to shipping. I did not check the pricing on the added memory to see if the prices are decent or not. Given that the NVME pricing appeared very fair compared to just buying off Amazon, it is reasonable to assume the memory might be the same way and worth it to have them install it for you.

I have not been pricing the newest Ryzen CPU's given the lack of good LCD screens on laptops (sort of like this one). It still seems like a good deal with a full 3070 max-P card assuming the thermals can really throw out the heat.

If your getting a gaming laptop and worried about battery life it's not the laptop for you. No powerful gaming laptop is gonna have great or even good battery life. Just expect terrible and anything more is a pleasant surprise.

HDMI 2.0? Isn't one of the main advantages of the 3000 series finally getting HDMI 2.1? Seems like a pretty big omission, how much could that really have saved them, a dollar?

Memory upgrade is DEFINITELY NOT worth it. To go from 16gb to 32gb is $160. NVMe though is $100 to add another stick of 1TB NVMe 3.0 x4.

What's the point of a next gen gpu when it'll only be at 1080p resolution? And if you're going to by it only to hook it up to a monitor, then just buy a desktop.

I normally agree but the next gen on intel had models with 3070/3080 chips claiming 8 hour battery life, so it's a Valid question to ask where the ryzen would fall relative to that.

Which models? The ones with their 35W Tiger Lake Quad Core Processors? And those up to 8 hours battery life is not for gaming, that is for just doing very basic tasks with a very lowered brightness.
