Get 30% back as a statement credit by using your enrolled American Express Card to make purchases online at taxact.com by 04/15/2021. Limit of $60 in total statement credits.

Don't forget to add offer to card in Amex Offers section.

Terms:
Enrollment limited. Must first add offer to Card and then use same Card to redeem. Only U.S.-issued American Express® Cards are eligible. Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels. Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to that Card. Offer valid online at taxact.com and through the merchant mobile app. Offer is non-transferable. Limit of $60 in total statement credits per Card Member. The enrolled Card account must not be cancelled or past due to receive statement credits. Any benefit earned from this offer is in addition to the rewards (i.e. Membership Rewards or cash back) earned as part of your existing Card benefits, but your ability to earn spend-based rewards for the purchase will be based on the amount after any statement credit or other discount is applied. Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 4/15/2021, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it. By adding an offer to a Card, you agree that American Express may send you communications about the offer.

If your AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) is less than 72k the IRS Free file program may work for you.

Try Credit Karma Tax software as well. Its free and works well unless you need to file in multiple states.

https://www.creditkarma.com/tax

Credit Karma Tax—is it really free?
Yes! Credit Karma Tax is always 100% free. It's $0 to file both state and federal tax returns. Even if you're taking deductions or credits, it won't cost you a penny, ever
.

Free Tax USA is also another free federal tax software (+ $12.95 per state - use code FREETAXUSA10 for 10% off)

For those that use TurboTax, Chase Offers has 10% off if you use:
- Sapphire Reserve
- Freedom
- Freedom Unlimited

there may be others but I have the above and saw it there. Not as much as 30% for this deal but some are picky on their tax providers

Used TaxAct for years, but price kept going up. Finally switched to Credit Karma. CK software isn't as great as TaxAct, but it worked well enough for me and saved me $50-60.

No, certain cities charge income taxes too. In PA, Philadelphia is one of them. New York City does this too.

Used it last year because I missed out of turbotax. I am pretty hands on and file premier version. This is a inferior product comparing to turbotax. Avoid.

Don't even bother, use FreeTaxUSA (Terrible name but it's legit) for free Federal returns regardless of income/type of income and $13 for state.

Trying to move on from Tax Act because their prices keep going up, and I'm moving out of the age bracket for the free IRS offer.

Looking at OLT.com since its one of the many free ones on the IRS site and has very few limitations compared to the others. Anyone have experience with them?

Some cities, New York, Newark, and Detroit, as examples also charge income taxes (these are ones that I have paid personally). Some counties do as well.

Anyone know how to request the IRS send all of your previous taxes back to you?
4506-T will get you a transcript which details what was filed (or not). 4506 will get you a copy of your return but there's a fee.

I have used taxact for a good 10 years, each year costing $10-15 (federal only).

Last year the same was $64, minus the amex 30% credit. Wow, great deal.
