I had one of these handheld units 15 years ago and this is the one thing I hated about it. I couldn't even vacuum my first floor of my townhouse before the battery ran out. Used it for a year and the motor blew out. Dyson wouldn't do anything about it. For the price of these, I expected more. I'll never buy another.

Good info. I need more than a couple minutes of sucking on these. It's like buying an electric car that only goes to the end of the driveway. No deal.

Battery and motor technology have come a long way...

Assuming your not being sarcastic, why are they not using better batteries then. The thing lasted 7 minutes on a full charge 15 years ago. The latest one is the same thing according to the previous poster. I have a black and decker that works ok that lasts a solid 20-30 minutes on a full charge. Lithium 20v. It sucks very well as long as I keep the filter clean.

There are two settings, regular and max. The 7 minute comment was about using "max" which isn't necessary for most situations. I have the v6 from a few years ago and very rarely does it run out of power before I'm finished on a 1k sq ft space.

It runs 30 minutes on standard. My v6 runs like 20 minutes or so on a charge. I have no issues on standard setting.

also I imagine battery technology has gotten a fair bit better in the 15 years since they last tried one of these
