Put edu in the title. Why is Sony only doing edu discounts this year!!??
They do it every year, several times a year. Other than edu discount, there really isnt any other discount out there that comes close. Sony doesnt discount for any thing else except edu

What would be the best option for photographing star alignments or such?
You won't get the best photography advice from a deals site. You're looking to drop $1k- $2k+ on gear! Try looking for some videos about the topic, or bouncing your question on a photography forum, and seeing what gear they recommend. Invest some time doing your research, then bring your newfound knowledge back here and make a more informed purchase.

It's gotta be the FE 200-600mm right?
I would go with the 100-400mm with a star tracker (only because I have more use for it compared to the 200-600).

Wouldn't low light not be as much of an issue if I'm doing long exposure?

Try green toe. Have tried with 2 recent edu discounts. Put in the same price and got it both times from an authorized dealer.
