Last time this was this cheap was 2016, and it has never been cheaper according to CCC.
I have one, so much nicer than other brands because it is very heavy duty. It will not get holes in the bottom from sharp trash items or spikey plants. Only down side is that it is physically heavy.
I also use it to catch rain under my gutter. When 3/4 full it is 200lbs, but is not damaged by my grabbing the handle and dragging it to my garden area to dump on plants.
Lid is sold seperately for about $10. You can also get a dolly for it and fancy lids. So it is nice to have lots of accessories, which are standardized because these haven't changed much in 20 years.

Otherwise, F Amazon. I refuse to support their business.

They are the WORST GARBAGE CANS I HAVE EVER BOUGHT !
They split down the sides after a couple weeks of light use
Avoid them.

A better choice would have been a chlorosulfonated polyethylenene, rubber, or even neoprene barrel. Either lined or made from.
But hey, I'm not a teacher, dying of cancer, trying to hide things from my family & friends, in New Mexico.... I'm sure your friend Walt got the best option he could.
Cheers!

Imagine the carbon footprint to ship these through three different retail supply chains then me and all my neighbors drive our pickup trucks and giant suvs to those three different retailers? What's the carbon footprint of those brick and mortar retailers?
Even if every single person in your neighborhood makes a separate trip in their 'pickup trucks and giant SUVs' to pick them up, it is absolutely a smaller footprint than amazon shipping 100+ single cans in enormous boxes to each of your houses.
Even though this argument is stupid, I think you're definitely on the wrong side of logic here.
