I do not understand why this deal has less interest when this has four (4) 5 AH batteries free with the circular saw. Now I am 2nd guessing myself. Is this really a good deal?

It's a great deal. It doesn't have a lot of interest because it's not a NEW deal; This has been a deal since before Thanksgiving and was active all summer. Most people invested in the Makita system have bought several to stock up on batteries and have sold off the extras.

I will say it is heavy at around 13 lb(with batteries) versus my old skilsaw that weighs in at around 10lbs. I got the rear handled version but may have been better off getting the top handle as the weight would be more controllable. feels very similar and probably a little bit lighter than the worm drive skill saws that I've held in the past. Though it is not a worm drive saw as the motor comes directly off the blade.
Yep, the rear handle is a helical gear drive. Just as good if not better than a wormdrive. It's basically right in between a wormdrive and a sidewinder.

Most people don't need this much saw.

Makita doesn't have a lot of inexpensive tools that operate on this battery system. Their selection has grown a lot lately, but most bare tools are in the $100-200 range.

Most people don't want to pay this much for a single tool.

But for those who use a circular saw enough to appreciate it, or would be more productive professionally with something like this, I think it's a "must buy" deal. Even if you never buy another Makita tool.

My brother who does construction got this deal several months ago and I am extremely impressed. He uses it daily.

For me, the batteries would die of old age before I got my money's worth if I couldn't use them in other tools. Unless I had a barn, shed or garage to build.

I bought this same combination and price from Makita two years ago. The saw is really well weighted and with two batteries it lasts all day. The brake kicks in after cuts to extend battery life. Really great for cutting OSB and Plywood and doesn't get jammed up with dust. Site lines are really good too, plus it has a built in rafter hook. Down side is it doesn't have a built in wrench for blade change out. Other downside is although it is really smooth at cutting it is slightly under powered. I tried using it to bevel cut rafters and it struggled on doug fir and could not go through SYP. So if you are cutting LVL or rafters I would get the Milwaukee, Dewalt, or Skill worm drive. Otherwise for everything else it is a fantastic saw.

You can add saw kit and two 5.0 ah batteries into cart and get $249 finally, so hackable!

yup, "hackable" means people learned how to read the clearly printer returnable value for each item on their receipt...

(still, in no way a hack)

I just bought it 5 minutes ago and plan to return the batteries.

If you add each item separately the saw kit is $151.96 and the batteries are $97.04

I'm guessing you can return the saw kit and get back $151.96 + tax

I bit the bullet since it's free shipping. If returning the batteries doesn't work, I will just return the entire order. Nothing gained nothing lost.
